Story
Quicker is a near-future SciFi/Thriller whose young heroine, Ell Donsaii, is an intrepid athletic phenom who reminds one of David Weber's Honor Harrington. Like Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Ell is also a mathematical genius who, instead of counting sheep, works on her own theory of quantum mechanics to help her drift off to sleep. At once shy and concerned about her social skills, yet well loved by those around her, she finds herself at the center of a terrorist plot at the Olympics.

Telekinetic is the first of a series of post-apocalyptic stories featuring the Hyllis family. The collapse of civilization has reduced their people back to iron and horsepower. The Hyllises tend to inherit “tele-talents” such as telekinesis and teleportation. Tarc Hyllis’ mother (and his grandfather before her) could “feel” things with their talent. Tarc’s father can “push” objects with his mind. Then some strangers show up to scout the town where the Hyllises live. Could Tarc’s powers, weak as they are, play a role in resisting this invasion?

Story
Dabu’s life has been far from easy; born with a crippling lung illness, he has never been as strong as his father or brother, both of whom have disappeared after attempting to challenge the Trials of Ancients. In the wake of the Tyrant King’s war, his village has come under the control of the Purus, a vicious gang of magically enhanced cutthroats and murderers. The Trials offer the promise of power to any who can clear them, but Dabu has been forbidden from entering.
Summary
A "prehistorical-fiction" novel about a boy prodigy in a primitive caveman society. First he reduces a dislocation of his own finger, then works out how to "set bones" for others who’re injured. Like Jean Auel's Ayla, he discovers other primitive technologies, including trapping, smoking meat, and the domestication of a wolf. His mastery of these skills gradually elevates his previously despised and downtrodden position in their society - until he becomes highly respected and admired. And, falls in love with the girl he didn’t dream could love him back....

An excellent historical fiction adventure
Dr. Dahners certainly knows how to tell a good story. This was the last series of his that I actually read, as I didn't originally find the blurb intriguing. This first story is set in prehistorical times and follows the adventures of Pel, a young and physically awkward teen. He is cast out of his tribe, a sure death sentence. Through ingenuity, he is able to survive. I love dogs, so his relationship with Ginja really stood out for me.
The narrator does a very good job on this one. I'm looking forward to experiencing the rest of the series in audio.

Great book!
This book may not be 100% historically accurate but it has great characters, a plot that moves along nicely, and it's full of thought provoking ideas. As soon as I finished it, I immediately went back to the beginning and listened again. I only seem to do that with Laurence Dahners's excellent books! I highly recommend this book and all his other books as well.
