About this listen

A reclusive author, Beryl Madison finds no safe haven from months of menacing phone calls - or the tormented feeling that her every move is being watched. Critic reviews

"Takes the reader into the fascinating world of the forensic crime lab ... a complex, multi-layered novel with enough twists and turns for two books." ( The Washington Post Book World)
"Cornwell has the milieu and the facts down cold ... a complex story that wends a devious path through dark spaces where corpses are discovered at practically every turn." ( The Los Angeles Daily News)

This was the 2nd book of this series that I listened to. It was a slow burner for me after the first story, but the story built and I really enjoyed the undercurrent of menace through the book. The am going to work my way through these, although I’m pretty sure it’ll cost a small fortune!

Another gripping story

Having read the Scarpetta series over 20 years ago, it's great to revisit them. Patricia Cornwell blends real life crimes with a ckever plot cobtaining imense detail and interesting characters that you can't help to engage with. I've always wondered why the books were never turned it films.
