JUST. BUY. IT.

I have never written a review of anything.

I have had 10 or so audio books to date, and had mixed thoughts on it compared to reading yourself - value of (how can huge success authors like Peter Hamilton have such appalling narrators who you can’t get past their voices to submerge in the story - almost every review says the same.. doesn’t make sense)

I have read all of the Undead series up until book 25, utterly absorbed into that world and invested in it’s characters.. check every couple of weeks to see if 26 is on the horizon.. have read everything else Haywood has written - the latest WorldShip Humility getting close to as good as the Undead series)

I bought the free stand alone taster episode , no doubt issued to reel existing readers like me into getting the audio books - fair play, it is a good idea (though can’t you be a bit more generous with grouping the books together a bit - as has been done with the written version?? - 25+ credits is a hell of a lot to commit to..). The guy reading did a good job and made me realise the value of listening to every word spoken and coming alive - still, 25 credits..? It’s not like you can just buy the first few and stop..

I bought Blood on the Floor audio book as a stand-alone, instead of the main books, to give it a proper go and see if it would hold my attention for 7 or more hours..

What can I say to possibly communicate just how good this is..?

JUST BUY IT, SHUT THE WORLD OUT AND GET READY FOR A RIDE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET..!

Period.

Full stop.

Don’t even bother read any other reviews.

JUST DO IT!

Why?

An amazing, rich, enthralling, full-on yet tender and heart wrenching journey..

Rachel Hines has a voice so perfect to read out-loud, it’s like being wrapped in silk.. that is one moment one moment perfect English rose elocution, one moment total Cornish tones, all engaging, all enrapturing..

Whilst as a red blooded male I cannot lie and not say hearing a beyond sexy English perfectly poised voice say ‘f..k’ made my heart miss a beat every so often, I can say that she does not in any way trade or indulge on this inevitable impact and I can imagine women being as enthralled and engaged by her as much as - well, every man on the planet..

Rachel, if you ever read this - I hope you go on to narrate 100’s more books, yours is a rare talent.

An equal match to Haywoods’s

Annoying

Ok for a while but gets a bit long winded and had stopped enjoying it by the end. The kids are really annoying in the middle and felt like throwing my phone away. I wouldn't bother.

Excellent story

I didn't expect to enjoy this story as much as the rest of the undead series because it doesn't follow Howie, Dave and the group. But I was pleasantly surprised. I loved this book. Bloomin' loved it. As always, RR Haywood's characterisations are fabulous and I enjoyed getting to know Heather.

I didn't listen to this before listening to book 16. But already knowing the ending of this story did not detract from it in any way. I can highly recommend this site sorry to The Undead series.

Not a zombie fan, but I tried I really did.

Loved the Extracted books, but not this. Long, annoying boring sections of unnecessary clutter that did not add to the characters and were not even funny. This book and narration did not work for me.

it's amazing!

I love the narrator and I really enjoyed hearing about the gang from a different perspective.
Another excellent read,. if you don't know, this should be listened to after book 15 in the undead series. it's basically book 15.5.
Enjoy!

just about enjoyed it

The story in full wasn't too bad, liked the interaction with original characters but the main character rather annoyed me at times.

too much waffle

I love this series but the way the children are portrayed written just bored me. The end of the book is great but this is definitely one of the slowest and hardest to get into.

Avoid this one

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I have read and listened to many post apocalyptic novels; I like this genre but I was not prepared for this one; Beauty and the Beast with toilet training!

What could R. R. Haywood have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Spent more time considering the plot; the conflict scenes are repetitive and in between there are poorly drawn characters and a ridiculous emphasis on personal hygiene.

Would you be willing to try another one of Rachel Hine’s performances?

No, her style of reading is not a style that I like.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on the Floor?

All the references to incontinence , menstruation etc. and some of the flight scenes.

Any additional comments?

I rarely write reviews as I am very time poor but I do want to alert other people to this before they buy it; rubbish!!!

Blood on the floor

Not sure about this book. At times it went on a bit too much. Narrative ok, story ok, but I think ok is all I can give it. I don't think I would buy a second book If there is going to be one.

Tedious and dull

Too long, rather tedious. I couldn't finish it, despite trying 3 times. It just didn't go anywhere. I intend to return it as I'm never going to try listening to it again.

Good and Bad

This is my first Zombie book and probably my last.
The first half of the book was pretty good and very funny in places. But the second half of the book made me want to walk into book and slap some sense into Heather and those spoiled ungrateful children they picked up especially the youngest Anya. If it were my child throwing those temper tantrums and putting the whole group at risk. You should have bought muzzle and a spanking she would never forget. Then the book just got monotonous and very repetitive.

Rachel Hine was good with the delivery of the story

Special Story

Well that was a lovely surprise. This should be read after book/day 15. Her monster. Everything I can say would be a spoiler. But this side story, adds to the whole series.

Dont bother with this

I enjoy the Undead series though even that is getting long in the tooth now. I was looking forward to seeing what would be done with this. My only comment is Dont Bother. Bad attempts at trying to link in scenes and characters like Paco as a zombie just screamed Try Hard. If you want to spend over an Hour listening to how a female tries to stop her period than this book is for you... Was not amuseing - was pathetic.

I want more!

So this book should have been read between the last 2 Undead Series...but I didn't know that. However, I read it after & it still is a great back story for Heather & Paco. Trust me, you love it & it synchronizes great with the Series. Just listen & enjoy!!! ;)

Main character whinny and selfish for most of book.

I am huge fan or original British Zombie series and awaiting anxiously next book released. But this main character made me want to walk into book and slap some sense into her and those spoiled ungrateful children they picked up especially the youngest Anna. If it were my child throwing those temper tantrums and putting the whole group at risk. You should have bought muzzle and a spanking she would never forget. I let the book run without me listening last few hours because of everyone except Paco were a butch of whinny selfish individuals, some just more than others.
---love and looking forward to original series, but this spin off series owes me nausea medication.

Awful, Awful book, whinnying from start to finish!!!!!

Interesting- Woman's Perspective

That was interesting- it's a zombie story from the perspective of a woman (periods in the zombie apocalypse and all)-seriously, I did not know that the author was a man until I looked him up after completing the book. The only other author that has done that convincingly for me was Stephen King in Gerald's Game. I read/listen to a lot of zombie books and I'm always purchasing books when someone says "different," and they usually really aren't. But this one was unique and a lot of fun. She's a strong heroin, there's a touch of (really odd) romance, and a lot of action. Obviously a dog lover. Definitely worth a credit!

Pointless

The world really doesn’t need any more zombie apocalypse stories. And it certainly doesn’t need one this long
