About this listen

Erik and his family are Norse who live on the island of Orkneyjar. Their world is thrown upside down when the King of Norway colludes with their jarl to take over their home. They flee to the land north of Mercia.

Hoping for a life free from the tyranny of a King, they have to fight Danes and Saxons.

When King Harald of Norway sends ships to destroy them, the Clan of the Fox is forced to flee to the newly discovered land of ice and fire. They travel beyond sight of land into an uncharted ocean to face a future which is uncertain. Their only certainty lies with their navigator, Erik. He is their only chance to find a new home.

Enjoyed but not as much as the Anarchy or Archer books where I awaited the next book eagerly.
The tales and lands are not quite so familiar.

Enjoyable but other Griff Hosker book are more enjoyable.

The narrator was excellent! Eager to read the next book in the series. After reading this first book, I found a field that would be most interesting to study - ASNC (Anglo-Saxon Norse and Celtic.

Epic

totally encapsulating. Charaters and plot are superb and developed in such a way that you feel it happening around you - apart from a few compass direction irregularities that I felt grabbed my attention. I hope I dont ae too long to wait for book 2.

unputdownable

The actions have been well imagined and the storyline is interesting. But everything goes quite smoothly and I wasn’t really moved by the characters. One of those easy to read novel series that you only read once. Won’t acquire second book because I believe there must be better written stories out there. Hard to find though in this genre.

Good, but a bit predictable
