Summary

Trapped.

What could be a worse feeling than that?

After 18-year-old Sam gets an invitation for a free vacation in the mail, she hops on the opportunity despite her mother's pleas not to go. With the realization that her best friends have all been invited as well, she's sure she made the right choice. Once they board the fancy cruise ship however, things aren't as luxurious as they had seemed.

Passengers start to disappear and once the ship lands on a deserted island, Sam and her friends are left on their own to figure out why. Faced with a deadly predicament, they have to learn to survive amid a mass of nightmare creatures all out for the taste of her blood. With the help of a handsome yet suspicious island native, Sam must figure out how to get back to the mainland before she's trapped on the island forever.

Enjoyable story, but terrible narration...

The story follows 18 year old Sam, who gets invited on a cruise - along with many others of similar age. Strange things start happening, people start to disappear, and when Sam and her friends disembark on a deserted island they encounter a variety of creatures all desperate for a taste of their blood. If you like a horror story, mainly aimed at a younger audience - then you'll find this entertaining.
I thought the story itself was let down by very poor narration. I found it very synthesised, with a lack of expression. The story would have certainly benefited from the narrator trying to distinguish between the characters. What was, in the main, a well written horror story, was let down by an almost monotone voice - which I found it hard to concentrate on.
I'll certainly be putting Kayla Krantz's work on my watchlist, and hopefully the disappointing aspects detailed above will be remedied in future.
I received this book for free, in return for an honest review.

Never accept a free holiday!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

When Sam receives and invitation for a free vacation her mum tries to warn her something isn’t right as people don’t just give free holidays away . However Sam decides to go but is unaware most of her friends have also received the same invitation. It doesn’t take Sam and her friends long to realise things are not quite as they seem and that each day they notice there’s less and less passengers. They are taken to a deserted island and left to fend for themselves and it isn’t long before they see the horrors on the island and have to fight for their survival. I really enjoyed this new take on Vampires and Werewolves and look forward to the next two books.

For teenage listener

I liked the synopsis and thought it sounded great, but sadly I couldn't listen to the end, I didn't engage at all with the narrator, and felt that the story was aimed at a much younger listener to me.

I was offered this book in exchange for an honest review

Different take on Vampire/Werewolf Creation

This was an interesting story. I liked the author's spin on the whole vampire/werewolf creation. I feel like there could have been more interactions behind Sam's relationships between Lance and Clyde. I a good majority of the the story was pretty unique. It does sort of leave room for the trilogy but there is only a minor cliffhanger, I didnt finish the story feeling incomplete but am interested to see where the author takes things in the next books.

I thought the narrator did a pretty good job in this performance. I would have liked a better recording in some spots; there were very faint electronic/buzzing noises in some spots that the equipment might have been making. It wasn't enough to be distracting but it was enough to notice. I didnt like the way the narrator said the word foliage, she would say foil-age. Not a big deal, but I did find myself mentally correcting her every time. Otherwise, this was a pretty good performance with good voice differentiation and was clear and easy to understand.

I received a review copy and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

An Interesting Idea

The first half of the novel engaged my attention with good characters and plot but the second half seemed over long and somewhat laboured. The narrator adds little and does seem bored with life. There are lots of distracting background sounds that are not associated with the storyline, especially towards the latter part of the book. This novel has great potential with some additional editing.

Never Accept A Free Trip.

Outstanding storyline full of horror and blood. It made me want to pick a side vampires or wolf's. Hoping this will turn out to be a killer series. No pun intended lol.

Blood Moon Rivew

Just imagine, receiving an invitation to an all expenses payed vacation. Everyone’s dream right? Well be carful what you dream about, because sometimes those dreams turn into nightmares.

That’s what happens to 18 year old Sam and three of her friends. After receiving the invitation in the mail, she runs away from home to go on the curse. However it’s shortly after she starts boarding the boat that she notices odd things around her.
Even her dreams have turned into nightmares, which she soon learns are really omens sent to her by a wolf.

After reaching the island, her nightmares start to become reality and soon her and two of her friends are split up from each other.

But it gets a lot worse the more time passes, Clyde (her best friend) gets kidnaped trying to protect her. She gets bitten, I won’t say by who or what though, I think some things need to remain a mystery.

I enjoyed listening to this book, it’s a first for me by Kayla Krantz, but I know it will not be the last book I own by her and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series.

Not for me

I thought this book was horrible. I couldn’t even finish it. It jumped around and made no sense to me. It started out with a little promise but after investing a few hours I’m not going to waste the rest of the time. The narrator tried and did a good job with the story and subject are just not for me. I received this book at no cost and left this review voluntarily.

I don't think the blurb gives it justice.

This was a really good book and it sounded intriguing but its far more than the blurb leads on. Sam gets a strange invite for a cruise. She sneaks out like most any teen would do. When she gets there some of her friends are there too. The cruise staff is weird and strange events begin happening from the start. The weird gets weirder as the story takes off and many unexpected twists take hold of the plot veering it into an action packed supernatural story.

The narrator seems right for this story to me. Her voice matches what I expect for the character and her pacing is good. I always keep my device set to 2.5. I loved how the story starts out innocent enough with an invite to a cruise. I get those phone calls all the time so I chuckled a little at the idea.

The book is full of suspense and mystery. It kept me engaged and wanting more.

A good book for young readers of science fiction.

The story was predictable and the characters were shallow, however, a younger reader would probably enjoy it. The narrator was easy to understand and follow. I gave this rating because I didn’t see believable responses or depth of character. I received this book free for an honest review.

Sometime you should follow your first mind

Blood Moon is a slower paced supernatural suspense book. This book has vampires, werewolves, love, betrayal and loss. Blood Moon is nicely written and very descriptive. I received this book per my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Good Story but...

This is a well written story that would be quite enjoyable if not for the droning, monotone voice of the narrator. I couldn't take it long enough to get farther than halfway through.

Simple

while the story was okay, it seemed very simple and the characters felt underdeveloped. there was also a background noise in the recording that seemed very distracting to me. I was always pausing it to see if the sound was actually on the recording or somewhere else.

Couldn’t finish the book

The story line was ok. There was some parts that were a little unrealistic but I could have over looked that. The narrator was what made me get more annoyed than anything and finally just turned it off about half way through. Deciding it wasn’t worth listening to.

The cruise from hell

It’s too bad Sam and her friends have never heard the old adage there is no free lunch over a free cruise. This is definitely the cruise from hell and Sam starts to know this this is soon as she gets on the ship sing devilish I crewmembers to bloodsoaked owls and this is only the beginning. There’s a lot more in store for Sam and her friends. The author does not skimp on the scares. I have read a few books from this author and she does not let us down in this one. The only advice I can give is don’t do like I did and listen to death at night. Although it may be can you be at times it is still scary and shouldn’t be read while you’re alone.

YA Thriller

There were one or two things I found hard to believe in this book but I did find it intriguing. I wanted to see where the author would take us. It went in a direction I was not expecting but I did find it slow going at times. It has an interesting crew of characters and I even bought the next book to see what happens next
The book contains vilence.
I would call it a YA thriller.

Very good

Blood Moon was a very good book. It has a great combination of mystery, suspense and action. The narrator does a good job of narrating. If I had to use one word for this book it would be chilling.
