Summary

The ancient pact between mankind, Heaven, and Hell has been broken. And this upstart wizard's quest for vengeance may have just kicked off Armageddon. So, time for a drink...or maybe two.

Already plagued with sinister night terrors that could qualify him as a card-carrying psychopathic insomniac, Nate can barely even manage to put his pants on in the morning, let alone pick teams for the Apocalypse. But when he's framed as a demon sympathizer, condemned by the Armies of Heaven, and hunted down by both his allies and the Four Horsemen, this wizard doesn't think it can get any worse. Then they take away his magic. And a wizard without magic stands no chance against the forces of Heaven and Hell....

improving

an improvement on the first book. the Narrator is a huge improvement. the story seems to be getting into its own rhythm and potentially developing quite nicely.

Just Fab!

I just love this second installment of the Templeverse. Lots of laughs and lots of action! Shayne Silvers shining at his brightest.
It's a great story but Best of all Joel Richards is an Amazing Nate! Such an upgrade from Obsidian son as an Audio book!

amazing!!!

loved this book so much, may have a little crush on Shayne Silvers for writing such an intriguing original book, love all the little twists and turns.
all the characters are so full of life you wish you could meet them.
thank goodness there is a different narrator, I just had to persevere through book 1, but this one I fairly listened 24 7.
definitely worth a listen.

Entertaining

Anyone who has read the Harliquin Chronicles will notice as I have the similarities between them and these books. ( don't know who came first). That said, they're entertaining in their own right so I would recommend reading the collection.

Awesome book’

Ok, so I had to leave a review on this one because I left such a poor review on the first one. I am so glad that I decided to give this book a chance since it had a different narrator from the first one. Wow. I was on the edge of my seat toward the end. I loved it! The narrator was great and I felt like I was actually in the story. And of course, the story itself was extremely engaging. I am going to check out book 3 now.

WAY BETTER THAN TYE FIRST ONE

The fist book was just ok, this book is really great. I'm now a fan of the series. I almost didn't get this book but am so glad I did. you won't regret buying this book but the first book is needed to fully understand this book.

great follow up, can't wait till the next

This was a great follow up to the obsidian son, the main character is being fleshed out and the magic system just keeps getting better. This book hinted towards darkness to come, but the author does a great job of keeping things light and humorous instead of just depressing adversity. I was a bit thrown by the change of narrators, the new narrator is a bit dry for this type of material, he seems better suited to hard boiled mystery/detective stories, rather than fantasy, but he did an admirable job, especially towards the end.
Bottom line, this is a great urban fantasy series and I have every intention of sticking with it, I only wish the rest of the books where available on audio...

Whining Isn’t Character Development

Before every decision and action there’s 5 minutes of belly-aching about everything except the current scene and sometimes not even the overall plot. And for every set of choices there’s a handful of good ones and then the worst decision possible; spoilers: he picks the bad one each time.
Narrator is an improvement over the first one.

wow, so much better than book 1

alright I enjoyed book 1 but it didn't grab me as did this book.

the characters seemed more flushed out and the humor was evident as well as an adventurous story.

i am hooked

All hope is not lost!

Was so disappointed with the narrator of Book 1 that I almost stopped listen to the series. Narrator starting with Book 2 is awesome! What a difference a good narrator makes!!

Great series

I love the series, the characters and the addition of the new plot lines. The narrative tended to drag a bit at times, with an almost filler-like sense of repetition. Otherwise, it's a great read, looking forward to continuing.
