Story
Dean Milo was a phenomenally successful businessman. Along the way, he established a lengthy list of enemies. His fast-track ride to the top came to a violent halt on August 11, 1980, when Milo was found dead in his luxurious Ohio home, shot twice in the head. A blank telegram form lay nearby. This is the gripping story of the remarkable collaboration between Texas private eye, Bill Dear, and the police detectives of Akron, Ohio, that led to the convictions of the people responsible for the death. It is also a tale of the human weakness, desperation, and overwhelming greed.

Summary
The sordid number-one New York Times best-selling true crime story of adultery, addiction, gambling debt, and murder in a privileged suburban town - from author and journalist Joe McGinniss.
The Marshalls were the model family of Tom’s River, New Jersey, living the American dream and seemingly in possession of all that money could buy. Rob Marshall, a successful insurance broker, was the big breadwinner, king of the country-club set. Maria Marshall was his stunningly beautiful wife and the perfect mom to their three great kids.
Then one night, while the couple drove home from Atlantic City, Rob, his head bloodied, reported Maria had been brutally slain. Sympathy poured in - until disquieting facts began to surface...and the true story of adultery, gambling, drugs, and murder tore the mask off Rob Marshall and the blinders off the town that thought he could do no wrong.

What are the best true crime books ever
When I was able to physically read books long ago I read this. I was so happy that Oraville got this book so I could read it again. Well told story of a man who is obsessed with himself and his own needs he would Stop at nothing to get what he wanted for himself no matter who it hurts. I read this book in three days. I recommend this book for anybody who likes true crime.

Blind Selfishish
Gibson Frazier did a 5 star read of this book. He changed his voice for the several male characters. This made this true story come to life. It is amazing what a person will do for their own desires above there children. Selfish to the core.

I could not get into this book, even tried skipping chapters to get a gist. Too many characters to keep track of and the narrator goes a bit quick so I found it difficult to follow who was who. Great premise if you can keep up.

Too much dialogue
The dialogue, which I believe is what the author imagined it took place in real life, is served best in a fictional account based on a true story. I prefer my true crime to be simply facts.

Listened to 4 hours
I had to stop listening however I was interested in how it turned out so I Google the main characters and found out how it turned out and was glad Robby met Tracey Gold during the filming of the miniseries and they married. I noticed that I was barely paying attention to the book and was about to end it after 2 1/2 - 3 hours but then there was a local hook. What picqued my renewed interest was the Louisiana connection, I am from Louisiana, then Shreveport, I work in Shreveport, but what lost me was the statement Bossier City is a suburb of Shreveport, totally wrong two separate cities in two separate parishes with whole different governments, etc. I lost faith in the author's ability to research, to get the facts straight.
Before I lost faith, the story was dragging somewhat with a very descriptive history of where the Marshall's lived, it seemed to go on forever about how great Maria (the murdered wife) was, and how obnoxious, self-absorbed, and egotistical the husband was. Fact is sometimes stranger than fiction, but I was so disgusted with how this perfect wife couldn't see what a looser she married...so part of me was either a) she was not that perfect or b) he was not that bad or c) it was really somewhere in between.
This is the first book that I stopped listening to after making it through the first hour. Generally I am hooked after I've invested an hour, but I couldn't finish this one.
