Two women are missing. One who has it all. The other, has lost everything…

DI Nathaniel Caslin is in conflict with his inner demons. His career is resurgent but the greater battle, that with his addiction, is still raging… and he is losing.

An abandoned car and a desperate call to the police, lead Caslin into the heart of two families where secrets and lies are a way of life. What links the fate of an MP's granddaughter and that of a recovering drug addict, working in the sex trade?

Past horrors and personal scandals tag with the present, as the tension mounts. Trust in those closest to him is brought into question, as Caslin pursues a deadly adversary. Lives hang in the balance and all the while, the clock is ticking…

Dark, chilling and complex, Blacklight is a gripping thriller from the multi-million-copy bestselling British crime writer, JM Dalgliesh, author of the Hidden Norfolk series, perfect for crime noir fans.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and this was a great follow up. Caslin's character is a little more well-rounded and while he's far from perfect he's entertaining and good at his job. There are a few gory scenes but then it's thriller/crime/mystery book in a series called Dark Yorkshire so surely that's to be expected. Not the most believable story but delivers on the thrills and kept me wanting more.

The Narrator, Greg Patmore does a good job for the most part with easily distinguishable voices and a pleasure to listen to but...I do wish he'd make up his mind whether Caslin's love interest is called Sarah (rhymes with Carer) or Sara (rhymes with Tara) as he switches between the two over and over again, often between sentences which quickly becomes very distracting and irritating.

I received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author, narrator or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

Entertaining and a little gory
