About this listen

I watched in horror as dark magic sprang from my hand faster than an imp after your socks. I didn't know my name, let alone that I had such power. The man was dead. I panicked. I ran. How was I to know I was a dark magic enforcer, tasked with keeping magic hidden from the world? Yeah, total noob move, I know. But my memory is returning, and the Hidden have given me 24 hours to make amends. Cover it up. Finish the job I was given, or else. Failure isn't an option. Well, it is, but I like me, and I like being alive. The clock is ticking as I battle to make things right and exact revenge on those who took so much from me. Easier said than done as I deal with angry mages, bitey zombies, oversexed imps, creepy necromancers, and grumpy trolls - and those are just my friends - all while trying to stop myself falling in love with my best friend, Kate, who just so happens to be a hot vampire. I'm Faz Pound, a.k.a. Black Spark, Dark Magic Enforcer, and time is running out. At least I have my looks. For now.

While I really like the reader this type of book doesn't appeal to me.

sorry not for me

Excellent narration and a good, fast paced story. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Fun, but gripping story.

Whilst not in the same league as the Dresden files series by Jim Butcher, or the Hellequin Chronicles by Steve Mchugh, or the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne - the Dark Magic Enforcer premise definitely has potential.

The narrator lacks a little and I found some of the reading to have the wrong emphasis - but doesn't distract too much.

The story seems a little short and could've done with a few more historical additions - example (without spoiler) is the back story behind the connection with the saviour in the final scene perhaps.

As first books in a series go it has piqued my interest and I will get the second one to see how it progresses.
I would recommend this and I hope the author continues to develop the character.

Good potential

I loved the way this felt like the MC was just chatting with you about his day, over a tea (or plain filter coffee).

the narrator was excellent, putting great emphasis on the emotions and mood of he characters.

the story is good. maybe not 'grest', but certainly good. the style in which it's written pulls it up to full marks, in my opinion. I'll be reading the rest of these books, and probably many more of this auther. I'll probably look up books read by the narrator, too. very good all round.

great style of informal and personal first person narration

entertaining story, not too heavy but very good. I Will have to listen to book two to see if the magic grows. Gildart Jackson is a great narrator and brings the story to life.
I was drawn in and listened at every spare moment, which is a mark of a good book.
Highly recommended.

Well read story
