Summary

As DCI Frank Homes of the Norfolk Constabulary investigates a murder, he experiences terrifying visions of a ghostly black dog. But is the dog real?

Accidents happen, suspects pile up, and with each passing day, the case and life gets weirder and stranger. Frank's detective instincts kick in even though he feels he is losing his tenuous grip on reality....something is amiss, horribly so.

Black Dog fuses the crime and horror genres in a super-uncanny tale of thrilling action and heart-stopping mystery.

Really Good Read.

A very enjoyable book, fast paced and edge of the seat stuff throughout. The characters are really well developed and believable. The story is sound and as for Aubrey Parsons narration, this man is brilliant. His mastery of the accents and the quality of his narration is second to none. Well worth 10 stars let alone 5!

A good solid police procedural

This is a good solid police procedural with a side of spooky. What's not to like.

My favourite character has to Spider the dog, my least favourite character was most definitely DCI Frank Homes, he comes accross as loud and obnoxious but he's entertaining, no doubt about that. I did think at first that he'd been transferred to Norfolk from somewhere in Essex but it seems not, it's just an accident of accents.

Aubrey Parsons does a great job with the narration.

I received a review copy free of charge in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. Which is what you see here.

Homes and a Hound.

This is a British police proceedural, a good one, with a huge twist. The central character, DCI Frank Homes is investigating a murder when he keeps encountering a spectral black dog. At first he's unsure if it is purely in his own mind. The novel skillfully mixes the genres of crime and horror to creat an edge of the seat experience. Great writing and first rate narration make for a compelling listen. I hope there are more in this series.

Excellent

A new author for me, but I follow the narrator Aubrey Parsons, as I think he is a brilliant voice actor.
The story was excellently written and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the main characters were believable and likeable, I wanted to know them more which is always a good sign.
I shall certainly be reading more from Simon Corbin

Black Shuck!

Black Dog by Simon Corbin pulled me in immediately. I like the character of DCI Homes and really enjoyed how the author meshed legend with fiction. This book does a great job with police procedures with horror genres. Aubrey Parsons was wonderful performing this book. He did a great job bringing the characters to life with distinguishable voices and realistic emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Really envied this book. Must admit I got it because Aubrey was narrating. Had to pause it a few times. Life was getting in the way. Well worth a listen.
