About this listen

Blair

I'd been waiting my whole life to run. When I uncovered hidden papers detailing my inheritance, I knew my time had come. I packed my trunk full of plant babies, black nail polish, and determination. With my demons in the rearview mirror and my trauma for company, I made my way to Elmwood. The remote Maine mountain town is home to my future, a potential love interest, and a lot of really weird, possibly deadly secrets.

Richard

Until recently, the most interesting thing in my life had been a particularly difficult Sunday crossword. Even my vampiric transformation hadn't disrupted my life much—it was still boring and repetitive, albeit with more blood than I'd previously dealt with. When newcomer Blair—a charming five-foot-tall vegan ball of rage—blows into town, it's all I can do not to follow him like a love-sick puppy. He’s everything I’ve been missing, but there's a catch: I need to spy on him and convince the Council he’s innocent of his mother’s crimes. Here's hoping I don't end up with a corpse instead of a boyfriend.

Bite Me! (You Know I Like It) is a standalone slow-burn paranormal MM romance with high heat, an HEA, and no cliffhangers. If you like spooky stories with mystery, suspense, hilarious miscommunication, and characters that make you laugh, listen on!

Okay, I did enjoy this but my gosh did the inner monologues make me zone out so bad, and it was every other chapter! Alexander was brilliant, I will probably continue the series at some point.

Alexander Cendese did an amazing job

I didn’t hate it however an hour in a guessed the plot figured out who the villain was and why they did what they did it was quite predictable tbh .

So to start i really enjoyed the story itself, however (in my opinion) one of the narrators wasnt a good fit for this story, which ruined the experience.
Alexander Cendese has a noticeable NY accent, fast delivery and somewhat grating voice which would be great for an excitable character, or a fast paced action type book. However when it comes to romance, where some scenes require more of a sofer, slower delivery to really build up the emotion, intimacy and feelings of connection - he bulldozes right through them which pulls the reader out of the story and lets the writing down.
Fae Quinn is great at writing very descriptive scenes, characters who have lots of internal monologue and soft intimate moments between characters, but you miss a lot of that with Alexander's fast delivery style. Even when you slow his parts down, the delivery just isn't there to build up the feeling of connection.
Unfortunately this isn't the first time his narration has ruined a romance book for me, so going forward I'll be avoiding his work in this genre. Don't get me wrong, hes a good narrator, I just dont believe romance is the right genre for him.

So even though I followed along on my kindle, I'll probably have to re-read this story without narration in order to really appreciate it.

Mixed thoughts - good story, but 1 narrator let's it down.

I really liked both characters, especially Blair. However I found with the narration of both I had to slow my listen speed right down until I got into both of their narration styles.

An enjoyable listen!

I love this book - I've probably listened to it 2 or 3 times now in the past couple years. It's an enjoyable easy listen with fun characters and an evil enemy that gets what's coming in the end. The narrators do a great job and the whole thing is a lot of fun. What I will say is that there's a lot of inner monologue etc and I love that, but it's not for everyone, so here's the test: listen to the five min preview- if you don't love it, don't get this book because the first chapter of this book really does set the tone for the rest of it. Anyway, I think this is a great listen and would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyable!
