Summary

Book 2 of 2 in the Bitcoin Series.

Bitcoin is a household name that everyone wants to talk about now. Everyone is excited about how much this currency has grown in the past few years, and many people watch the market as they are watching their daily news. While there is a lot of excitement that is around Bitcoin and how it is doing, many people do not understand what this currency is or how it works. This guidebook will take some time to look at Bitcoin and discuss everything that you need to know about the network, whether you are looking to purchase things, send money, receive money, or invest on the network.

There are a lot of exciting things to learn about Bitcoin, and this guidebook will take some time to talk about them.

We’ve heard a great deal in the past few months about cryptocurrencies and how they are impacting the world. This book is not about that. It is a close look at the technology that these new currencies are based on. Through this book you will begin to understand how they work and why they are having such a major impact on our society.

Blockchain technology goes much further than the idea of transferring money. Its ability to adapt to nearly every type of industry and be used in a myriad of ways is a whole new phenomenon that everyone should be trying to understand.

We live in pretty exciting times when things are about to change in big ways. From the pages of this book, you can begin to decide where you stand on these new changes. You will understand the background of a revolution that is being fought not with weapons of destruction but with computer codes and algorithms. It won’t be fought on a battlefield, but it will duke it out with the old system of things in cyberspace.

It is something that will eventually affect each and every one of us, so we need to understand what’s really happening with Blockchain technology so we can decide where we stand on the debate.

I really enjoyed this as I'm close to this area

I really enjoyed this as I'm close to this area professionally and needed to be able to ask the right questions. I tried on line courses and video's but they went into the weeds fast and rely on jargon and bluster.

This is different simple but clear language, clear context around the development of money and exchange. The most important point is the language and voice the author a clear chatty style that reminds me of having a coffee rather than struggling through a lecture.

Beautifully simple explanation.

As well as a clear, beautifully simple explanation of blockchain, It also uses his unique style of simplifying without dumbing down to explain all the areas related to blockchains such as banking, cash, and payments. A great book to understand the Basics of Blockchains but also a great way to understand the context and the importance of the technologies.

Well explained.

As a Bitcoiner, I'd like to see more of the potential upsides that Bitcoin can bring to society, but this is a clear and well-balanced primer and has all the pieces needed to for anyone understand where we are today.

The Basics of Bitcoins and Blockchains .

The Basics of Bitcoins and Blockchains is an engaging, clear, and authoritative guide to the applications and implications of blockchains and cryptocurrencies. The history of bitcoin section was particularly interesting to me, as there were some parts that I hadn't heard about, even as an industry insider. I would like to see more on STOs, perhaps in the next edition.

The Basics as a perfect on-ramp into this topic.

I've listened to a bunch of bitcoin and blockchain books. This one actually explains what's going on under the hood, in a clear, digestible manner. I work in marketing in the crypto industry and this was the perfect book to fill gaps in my knowledge and refresh on key details. Some parts were funny too. I'd recommend The Basics as a perfect on-ramp into this topic.

It's good to get up to speed now.

I joined the blockchain industry 3 months ago and I wish this book was out back then... Anyway, it's good to get up to speed now. The Basics has helped with my client conversations, especially around the difference between public and private blockchains. Although I am not particularly technical, it was easy to understand the maths/crypto bits.

I highly recommend it.

. This is a subject that is pretty complex and made it simple to understand. Aside from the Bitcoin and Blockchain information, the beginning of the book is an excellent introduction into the basics of how money "works" and "moves." With modern technology, the way money moves have changed rather drastically in recent years.

The author does an excellent job

Despite being in the industry for a number of years, concisely describing what blockchain technology is or how it can be applied is still a challenge. The author does an excellent job in clearly laying out concepts and how everything fits together.
This is one of the few credible books I suggest when people ask ‘Where can I learn about bitcoin?’. I’ve been in the space for quite some time and I still learned from The Basics of Bitcoins and Blockchains.

Good non technical overview

As an economist with modest mathematical skills, this book had exactly the right mix of analogy and direct explanation. The author also provides a good balance of pros and cons of blockchain and its future development

Surprisingly good. Surprisingly good.

Surprisingly good. The author is a strong thinker, clear explanations. I was expecting a "hype" book. But this is not one. His job is to explain blockchain and it's applications. And Norman accomplishes this succinctly. It's potential and likely roadblocks. Highly recommend.

Good introduction & basics

From the problems, Blockchain solves, the problems Blockchain creates, various Blockchain solutions developed today, and opinions regarding the future scenarios, made for a great starting point that creates excitement in continuing to learn this fascinating solution. As the author states, Blockchain is in its infancy. Like comparing websites from the 90s to now, it will be amazing to witness the evolution of this technology.

Very interesting book..

I was impressed with Burniske's ability to make the complexities of Bitcoin, crypto, and blockchain understandable to a layman. There were several aspects to Bitcoin and crypto I didn't quite understand. I have a much better understanding of the tech and why it's worth an investment.

Great listen!

This book covers the basics of the cryptocurrency industry in a very professional way. I had a good understanding before and still learned some new things. There wasn’t anything I disagreed with. Also, to my surprise, Alan also thinks like a professional trader and understand risk and phycology. I hope he will write a more advanced book and deal with more altcoins.
