Summary

Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life - eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart.

Walking with Peety is for anyone who is ready to make a change in his or her life and for everyone who knows the joy, love, and hope that dogs can bring. This is more than a tale of mutual rescue. This is an epic story of friendship and strength.

Brilliant story of the changes a dog made to one man.

It is narrated by the author which works really well. The guy's love for his dog shines through. I feel motivated to make changes in my own life now and will re listen if I find that motivation waning. Thank you Eric and Peety.

Amazing book!

One of the best books I have read in the last few years. Absolutely upbeat, inspirational, anybody who loves an animal, has a dog and cares about health will be able to relate to Eric’s very personal and self disclosing story. A story about transformation. Cannot say enough good about this book. Have purchased three copies already for family and friends for Christmas. It is simply that good!. Thank you Eric for sharing your beautiful story. You have absolutely made a difference not just in this world through your inspiring story but in the life of Peety-A companion and friend who forever transformed you!!.... and US!!!!

Enjoyed listening to this book. It inspired me, made me angry, laugh, cry, and made me want to go hug my dogs. Eric's voice was great to listen to.

I Wanted to Like This More

The first half of this book is truly inspirational. The impact that we can have on the life of an animal and their impact on us is immeasurable. I found myself struggling to continue mid-way through the book when I felt I was being preached to regarding lifestyle choices with food and the selfish want of the author to have his dog with him everywhere. A want so strong, that a single incident became the foundation for his claim for the need for Petey to become a service animal. This diminishes the value of true service dogs and their need in the world. I finished the book being grateful for all the animals impacting our lives, but viewing the author as shallow and selfish.

Inspiring

Whole food, plant based diet and the love of a dog saved this man’s life. It inspired me. I listened to this book quickly and will listen to it again. The truths are convicting.
