Publisher's Summary

President-elect Donald J. Trump lays out his professional and personal worldview in this classic work-a firsthand account of the rise of America's foremost deal-maker.

"I like thinking big. I always have. To me it's very simple: If you're going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big." -Donald J. Trump

Here is Trump in action-how he runs his organization and how he runs his life-as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks-really talks-about how he does it. Trump: The Art of the Deal is an unguarded look at the mind of a brilliant entrepreneur-the ultimate read for anyone interested in the man behind the spotlight.

I bought this and listened after a reporter summarised this after reading. What I heard was the opposite of the reporter summary. For those who want to learn about Trump it is worth considering. His wife and business ethics in particular.

    "Not impressed"
What disappointed you about Trump: The Art of the Deal?

The book did not resonate with me the way I thought it would. Nothing surprised or impressed me.

What could Donald J. Trump and Tony Schwartz have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Perhaps more dark truths and less of the sugard-coated, glitzy stories.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.

    "Really Good Book on Business"

I know that Donald Trump gets flak on Politics but guys trust me when i tell you that on business he gets it so right. For years i spend in the corporate world observing behaviours that would make your skin crawl and the amount of business books I read, none have made sense to the point of what really happened except when I read Donald's books. This is the second one. If someone happens to have him as a mentor then you are very lucky. He really knows people-operations in business and is an exceptional business mind. i honestly wonder why he ventured in politics because business is clearly his thing.

"Understanding the President of the USA!"

Donald Trump is a Honey Badger! This book explains how Trump hustles and creates opportunity where others only see complexity and futile battle. He sees value in abandoned property, distressed hotels, managing total value, managing details, hiring the best people, and waiting for the "right" price.

He built a staking rink that the NYC government could not. He got Casinos built in Atlantic City that others could not. He fought rent-control fraud. He transitioned from a background in residential construction into into major, iconic construction. The easy thing was probably to quit or never try, how many of us challenge Mayors, Celebrities, and the press on a routine basis.

After reading this book, you will see that Trump is tough as hell and can usually out-last the opposition. Also, there is much of the Cornelius Vanderbilt in Trump. In the book, he is 40, today he is 70, this dude has incredible energy, toughness, and drive - just like Vanderbilt.

Book was written in 1987, he already talks about hiring/promoting women, accepting a gay friend, being bi-partisan, doing business globally. and renting to black people. These were not universal principles back then and show he is much different than the media want to frame him today.

The narrator is awesome, after a while, you actually think it's Trump talking. It's really well done.

"Brilliant insight to the life of Donald Trump"
What did you love best about Trump: The Art of the Deal?

I enjoyed the unique perspective on business and dealing this book comes with. The personal stories of Trump meeting people and doing business with them are both entertaining and educating.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The best scene was how Trump has shown how incompetent the government is after failing to build a simple ice rink, even after wasting $13 million taxpayer dollars and 6 years of time. Trump has built it well in less than $3 million and in 4 months, and embarrassed the mayor for his incompetence.

    Any additional comments?

I definitely do not regret getting this book, and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone.

    Any additional comments?

I have a tendency of listening to 3-4 books (on completely separate topics so I don't get them crossed) at a time. Ended up starting this one and didn't listen to another until it was over with.

A great book, a great narration, and a great motivation. No wonder it's a classic!

"Great Insight into our Deal Maker in Chief"
Where does Trump: The Art of the Deal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This isn't among my regular reading choices, but upon Mr. Trump's election (and after reading Coulter's "In Trump We Trust"), commentators I read recommended this book for a look into President Trump's mind.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked this book in the same way I liked the Reagan Diaries - its an assembly of working day vignettes on activities and perspectives, and Trump's approach to business and people. It really provided insight into his deal making proclivities, his involvement -- and clashes -- with governmental entities and people, and his sense of style and accomplishment.

What about Kaleo Griffith and Donald J. Trump ’s performance did you like?

Kaleo's voice is well suited and very Trump-like in delivery, I thought.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Battles with bureaucracy and the making of the 45th President

    "very good read"

I know a lot of people don't like Donald Trump because he says what is on his mind and he is not always politically correct but he is an amazing business man and it shows in this book. he has probably done more big deals and has followed through on it then anyone else in the world. he knows what he is doing and he creates big ideas.

    "READ IT, UNDERSTAND THE MAN"

I read this book hard copy when it first came out years ago. Listening to it was a much more rewarding experienc....although I liked it then, too. I like the way its presented...kind of like sitting down at lunch & he's just telling you his story. He explains how he made certain decisions, some not so good....but the lessons learned. He is NOT giving a bullet point presentation telling you to be like him.....just how he did it. Insight into relationships, family, politics, etc. I wish he would do an UPDATE version. I've read his others, now I think I'll listen to those, too. This reader was great....almost sounded like The Donald!
