Loved my first audio book! Highly recommend.
So interesting to hear the real nitty gritty details about the life as a junior doctor. It was very well written; hilarious throughout, but littered with sad and poignant moments that clearly stayed with the author. The author is also the narrator. He leads you through the NHS minefield he traveled through, which allowed him to become a life saving, baby delivering, object-in-orifice removing doctor. He demolishes the convenient public image Jeremy Hunt wants to paint of a finely oiled machine being ruined by greedy doctors, with pragmatism and common sense very early on. Highlighting many flaws in how things are done.
One of the most thought provoking and striking things about this book is how grossly overworked, woefully underpaid and severely underappreciated he and that of his peers are, that frankly their treatment boarders on abuse (and that was 6 years ago). Most people would never settle for their employer treating them this way, yet junior doctors have very little choice and an even smaller chance to petition for change. It also highlights just how much junior doctors sacrifice in their own lives for the sake of their patients. Our NHS is literally running on overwhelming compassion and selflessness.
Thank you Adam Kay for trying to open the eyes of the health secretary, and for making me laugh whilst doing it.

I laughed, I cried
I avoided reading this book for so long. As a former nurse, I hate watching medical dramas- there is always something nauseating, pious or simply unbelievable in them. This book is funny and heartbreaking in equal measure. There is no self pity though there deserves to be. The struggle is real. I left my profession, one that I also loved because I was burnt out. To care for others we must be cared for- it’s a human thing and one the government has to wake up to to avoid haemorrhaging great staff like Adam. I am glad he created this book in support of his former colleagues. The NHS is our most valuable asset and must learn to appreciate it before we lose it. This book fires a warning shot across the governments bow- I hope it takes real action to put things right.

Medicine?
Definitely a book to read if you ever had any aspirations or ambitions to become a doctor. Whilst desperately funny in places, this book is is also angst filled and thought provoking. You will laugh out loud, you will also wince out loud, and no spoilers here but at the end I cried as well.

Very entertaining
I devoured this so quickly and really loved it. It’s entertaining, educational and the delivery is spot on. I would have given five stars, but personally I think a few of the jokes went a little too far in places, especially in the context of other people’s religious beliefs.

This is going to hurt by Adam Kay
I found this audio book very entertaining in particular some of the anecdotes. If you haven’t yet read or listened to it now would be a good time. Be prepared though for laughs and some quite tear-jerking moments along the way. Well recommend.

Hilarious, honest and eye watering
I couldn't recommend this book enough
Adam's sense of humour and tales had me in stitches throughout most of the book.
The underlying story of how hard these guys work and how thankless their roles often are is a big wake up call but the book takes you through every emotion and I loved it

authentic, humorous, and much much more
as a junior doctor myself, I am amazed how well the author captures the reality of what the job entails, the challenges, and the LOL moments (most of which can only be enjoyed in hindsight)
I recommend to everyone, especially relatives of doctors who are not in the healthcare profession themselves, and anyone who wants a current glimpse of what this profession asks of you... prospective medical students.

Really enjoyed listening!
Really enjoyed listening to Dr Adam Kay. He managed to connect with his audience and you couldn't help but smile and feel sad on occasions. I've told my friend some of the stories and they have all since bought the book and absolutely love it!

Loved it!
I loved this, didn't want it to end. A real insight into what it is like to be a doctor and work for the NHS. Funny as well as sad in places.
