It was a very good book contentwise but I wish it was narrated by Don Leslie, the impact would have been more and listening, enjoyable. After a couple of hours of some lifeless rantings of what would have been a beautiful insight into the life of St. Augustine, I stopped listening. Don did a marvelous job with Become Who You Were Born to Be by Brian Souza.

The book is a classic but I am struggling to listen because the reader uses absolutely no expression or inflection. He destroys the content! The other version available on Audible doesn't sound any more promising on the sample.
Audible needs to find a new versio....

My one complaint is that the text is abridged. The reading is excellent, superior to another unabridged recording at Audible. Having read the complete text, I note that the abridgement is faithful to Augustine's Confessions. Listening to the text is a very profound experience. I found myself often looking up passages to review the narrative, and enjoying the experience. Highly recommended.

The book itself is excellent.I had a few problems with the narrator, namely,it sounded like he wasn't familiar with the text(a problem i have run into before with audible).Nevertheless the author(Augustine)is very introspective.A great look into the mind of a 4th century early father of the church. Not to mention a look into the mind of a learned man in the 4th century.

The only reason this was rated three stars is because the book is not complete. The reading stops in the middle of Book 10.
