Publisher's Summary

A newly edited, single-volume commemorative edition of The Path to Power and The Downing Street Years; this is Margaret Thatcher in her own words.

Combining her memoirs The Path to Power and The Downing Street Years, this definitive account of Margaret Thatcher’s life is published as a one-volume commemorative edition for the first time. Margaret Thatcher was the towering figure of late-20th-century British politics. Now, following her death, in 2013, this is the story of her remarkable life, in her own words.

Beginning with her upbringing in Grantham, she goes on to describe her entry into Parliament. Rising through the ranks of this man’s world, she led the Conservative Party to victory in 1979, becoming Britain's first woman prime minister.

Offering a riveting firsthand account of the critical moments of her premiership - the Falklands War, the miners' strike, the Brighton bomb, and her unprecedented three election victories, the book reaches a gripping climax with an hour-by-hour description of her dramatic final days in 10 Downing Street. Margaret Thatcher's frank and compelling autobiography stands as a powerful testament to her influential legacy.

    "Margaret"

The authentic voice certainly adds to the enjoyment of listening to this book. I am convinced she was a woman right for her time, very sure of herself, certain in her own mind as to what had to be done. Of course she wasn't always right - none of us are but dangerous for a person with so much power. Averall a good 'read'.

    "Inspirational"

From start to finish Thatcher delivered a marvellous account of her political life. to hear it from the iron lady herself was incredible and inspirational. detailing why she took particular decisions in her life and offering her opinion. I urge anyone politically minded or indeed anyone who wants to learn more about modern British history to read this book or better still listen to Thatcher tell you directly through this audiobook.

    "A great insight for anyone"

I think anybody interested in the inner workings of politics will enjoy this but for those of us who think Margaret Thatcher is the best prime minister since Churchill, this is an honest & humble account of a life & career of a truly great Briton.

    "Fascinating"

Read by The Iron Lady herself, a must for any political memoir enthusiast. Can get a bit waffly in places, sometimes goes into far too much detail on Europe etc but still a fascinatingly listen.

    "The Voice of Britain"

This audiobook is a marvellous account of the History of Britain as seen through the eyes of Margaret Thatcher. I guess you either love her or hate her, but you certainly can't ignore her. Maggie's policies are as relevant today as they were then. Narrated by Margaret Thatcher, with passion and purpose you just want to stop and listen. Excellent.

    "Stunning"

As a teenager growing up through the Thatcher years with an active interest in politics I despised her, and her policies.
However, after listening to her account, narrated with such passion by Maggie herself, I now feel a sense of humility, loss and sorrow.
    What a Lady..!
If only UK politics could turn to someone with such belief and conviction for doing what’s right in the long term for our nation right now.
But then again such people seem driven away from public life these days.
Wonderful book, amazing woman - never thought I’d be saying that back in the 1980’s...!!!

    "worth every Penny"

i hooked on it from the beginning until the end. dictated by Mrs Thatcher herself, this audio book (As with the book itself) spoke of her biography in 3 parts, in a rather odd sequence : pre Downing street, followed by post Downing street, then only during the 11 downing street years. amazing insights and detailed account of events explaininh many of her thoughts behind policies.

Excellent book. A little slow at the beginning but thoroughly compelling & eventful at the later part. Gives a detailed insight into key events of 80s. Lady Thatcher, rest in peace!

"FAULTY EDITING - JUMPS FROM 1979 TO 1992"
Where does The Autobiography rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The file is faulty and jumps at 4:40:45 seconds from 1979 to 1992. I have downloaded this onto a different device separately and the same problem occurs. Please rectify it Audible.
