Summary
King of comedy? Well if anyone were to be accorded that accolade right now, it would have to be Peter Kay. In the last five years, he has risen to the top of the comedy world with astonishing speed.
He has had record breaking tours, TV shows, and even a number-one single. Add to that an appearance in Dr Who and what else is there left to do? More of the same one suspects, as Kay is still a young man. His story, told here, takes us from his Bolton childhood to the top of the Blackpool Tower. And very funny it is too!

A great listen and good in depth commentary of Peter's life up to 2006. some things in there that I didn't know about him. well worth a listen...........5*

Brilliant book
Being a Boltonian I love Peter Kay so it was nice learning about his early life & where he lived etc, but for someone that doesn't come from Bolton to read the book for Audible they might of done more prep as there was a few things he messed up on, like where Peter was married for one, it's NOT Brightmet it's Breightmet ( bray-t-met), if other Boltonians have read this idk whether or not the mistakes annoyed them or not but it proved to me that he had the book infront of him, & hadn't read it beforehand, & his take on the Bolton accent was comical trying to do it is a no no ... a bit like trying to do a Glasweigan accent when u come from Dudley lol it's not happening 😂😂

Brill! Very nostalgic. It made me chuckle fondly.

Great, Smashing!
Listening on Audible meant I didn’t have to put the big light on to read. Narrated very well and perfect choice of narrator too. Great insight into Kay’s life, the Dando blunder and his wife who still works in Boots in Bolton going off on maternity when first child came along. I watched The Peter Kay thing and Phoenix Nights series Two but I needed the back story and this book gave me that. This man stayed true to himself and I’m intrigued by people who don’t look for fame and it finds them.

interesting read
really fantastically interesting life to Peter Kay. Would have been better if he had read it. good that he bring some of the jokes into the story and how they came about.

Mainly summary of sketches and jokes.
There is little new or insightful here. Apart from some interesting biography, most is just a summary of some of his jokes and sketches. We know his jokes and sketches, that’s why we like him. More than a hint of exploitation here.
