Summary
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Fever Pitch, by Nick Hornby, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt.
As a young boy, growing up in the Home Counties and watching his parent's marriage fall apart, Nick Hornby had little sense of home. Then his dad took him to Highbury.
Arsenal's football ground would become the source of many of the strongest feelings he'd ever have: joy, humiliation, heartbreak, frustration, and hope.
In this now-classic book, he vividly depicts his troubled relationship with his father, his time as a teacher, and his first loves (after football), all through the prism of the game, as he insightfully and brilliantly explores obsession, and the way it can shape a life.

The chapter order problem mentioned in previous reviews seems to have been sorted now. Enjoy this masterpiece. UTA

Not bad but messed up chapters.
Appears to be a problem with chapter organisation as the last couple of chapters appeared half way through the book. With audible sign off advert.
Apart from that couldn't fault the performance or the self contained stories and history

2nd half chapters play in reverse
Great book/story but at about Chapter 30, the audiobook jumps to the last chapter and plays the remainder in reverse, finishing in the middle.

Chapters in wrong order as others have said. Audible should not be selling this.
Story and narration are excellent

Disgraceful Product
An amazing book and performance has been completely ruined. Halfway through the story the audiobook completely messes up and all the chapters become muddled. It destroys the story and is a complete disgrace. How has something so stupid been allowed to happen?

A bit quiet
Excellent book, but the audio comes through quieter than others on here, which made it a bit quiet even on top volume on my phone.

Boring
As a big Arsenal fan I loved the fever pitch movie but this is nothing like that. It reads like a diary of matches, and read in a monotone voice, I can’t bear it anymore having got over half way in, it’s just really dull

As a football fan… hard to relate to
I was excited for this book, hoping to feel a sense of the passion I feel about football. Maybe a bit of nostalgia, despite growing up in a later era. But strangely it’s hard to relate to. It’s almost as though the author doesn’t love football per se, but fixated on it as a distraction from his life.
Not to mention, there’s some strange opinions in the book. For example, the author recounts a childhood incident of being attacked at a game, unprovoked. Rather absurdly, he claims he deserved it just for being a white male. What a harmful opinion to spread.
One of the rare occasions I’ll be looking to return a book. It wasn’t interesting enough to stick with for long.

Fantastic
An excellently written journey through football before franchises, capturing perfectly the confusing complexities of an obsessive football fan. Wonderfully read, also.
