Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Endurance by Scott Kelly.

From the NASA astronaut who spent a record-breaking year aboard the International Space Station - what it's like out there and what it's like now, back here. Enter Scott Kelly's fascinating world and dare to think of your own a little differently.

The veteran of four space flights and the American record holder for most consecutive days spent in space, Scott Kelly has experienced things very few of us ever have and very few of us ever will.

Kelly's humanity, compassion, humour and passion shine as he describes navigating the extreme challenge of long-term spaceflight, both existential and banal. He touches on what's happened to his body, the sadness of being isolated from everyone he loves, the pressures of constant close cohabitation, the catastrophic risks of colliding with space junk and the still more haunting threat of being absent should tragedy strike at home.

From a natural storyteller, Endurance is one of the finest examples of the triumph of the human imagination, the strength of the human will and the boundless wonder of the galaxy.

Scott tells space from human perspective

My first read/listen of space from an astronaut, narrated by the man himself.
Enthralling and captivating, a great insight into a man, a dream and goal and overcoming all obstacles to reach that goal.
The Right Stuff is now in shopping a shopping bag, waiting for my ride home while drinking a good IPA.
Thank you to Scott for sharing his journey.

Everything about this audiobook is 5 star.

The story of Scott's life, his year in space, the entertaining story telling and Scott Kelly's reading. I love space and have read so much on the subject, but this book allowed me start to understand what going and being in space may be like and what it means. This is the first audiobook I'm going to relisten too.

Simply exceptionally

Such an inspirational story, so happy to have listened to it, the fact Scott narrates it himself is the icing on the cake. Leaves me wondering, how do i sign up to a mission myself?

The Ultimate Preparation for a Year in Orbit

An exceptional individual with a unique perspective.

This book gives a brilliant insight into daily life as a NASA employee, and as an inhabitant of the International Space Station, as well as the facinating history of one man, from his somewhat humble beginnings and how he achieved his dreams. Scott's candour, honesty and unbridled realism is very refreshing, whether he is speaking about his years as a pilot, personal issues with his health and marriage, or daily maintenance to a space toilet.

Recommended to anyone seeking something different, inspirational or simply informative.

So much more than a diary

Brilliantly written, a reflection not just on a year in space but a life's journey and the challenges facing humanity. Can't recommend highly enough- Kelly is a brilliant man.

Highly recommended

Loved this book. Entertaining, informative and educational. Once again, an autobiography read by the author which means the listener gets the best possible insight into the events described.

A Realistic View

I've read my fair share of astronaut books, and Kelly's stands out. He has somewhat a more cynical stance on space travel, and tells it how it is (including the expletives). I love this. He has a very interesting life story and a talent for the narrative leading up to his incredible year-long mission.
I must admit that he hasn't got the most colourful of vocal tones whilst reading the audible edition, but the fantastic content makes up for it. I really recommend this book.

An intriguing story of endurance

If you could sum up Endurance in three words, what would they be?

This story is a great insight into the commitment, sacrifices and high-risk activities facing astronauts on Earth and in outer space. Commander Kelly takes you on a roller coaster of a journey. His story jumps back and forth, but you soon get into sync with his approach to this book. I was amazed to learn about what goes on behind the scenes at NASA, especially with regards to medical testing. If the NASA nutritionists are reading this, give the ISS crew members more chocolate pudding.

I liked everything about this book. I liked the honesty and the clarity. I went on a journey with the author and shared all his adventures. I was absolutely fascinated by every detail.

Brilliant insight behind the curtains!

A wonderful read about the early life, steps and a mentality necessary to succeed in any endeavour. Very well narrated by Kelly himself. Will definitely recommend it to my fellow uni space junkies.

Good story, good narrator, crap audio quality

It is a very engaging story and full of insights into life on ISS. Scott Kelly does a good job narrating. To bad that the audio skips. I dont get how the publisher dont value their own product enough to have some quality control
