    "I Get It Now!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a Transylvanian to be better than the print version?

I personally enjoyed both versions. I was first introduced with the print version. There I had the chance to place my own imagination into each character. The audio version enhanced it even more!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the friendships that developed. It made me a little envious of the bonds that grew through their experiences. I didn't make these types of bonds during my high school years so to experience this through the book was quite enjoyable.

    Which scene was your favorite?

By far my favorite scene was the development of the "Spider Brothers". I laughed so hard through that section. It was hilarious.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hmmmm good question. Maybe something like, "bonds that last a lifetime"

    Any additional comments?

Confessions of a Transylvanian did an amazing job of introducing me to the whole "Rocky Horror" craze. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book! I can remember a dear friend from high school would talk about his weekend experiences at the local theater watching the live performances. I just didn't get it and wondered what the big deal was all about. Well after reading Confessions of a Transylvanian I TOTALLY get it now! I recommend this book to anyone who (a) wants to recapture the enjoyment of their Rocky Horror years at the theater, (b) didn't get what all the fuss was about and is now open to taking a ride back in time to experience it, or (c) have no idea what we are talking about here but is curious to find out. Read it, you won't be sorry!

"A Story of Fun, 1982 and Rocky Horror"

This unique and sweet memoir took me back to the time I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first through sixth times, and gave me a whole new appreciation for the dedication of its devotees. It captures, in hilarious detail, a young man's quest, amidst his likable peers, for the best performances and best parties he could be part of. The author, an accomplished actor, makes it even better by reading it himself, naturally adding heart and excitement to the stories. It's a wonderful respite from listening to news radio in the car!

"Freakin awesome! A must for Rocky Fans!"

First off, shut up and sit down, if you have a problem with cursing, ya better pick another f*cking book!

To say I loved this book is an understatement!! I grew up in another section of Florida and several years later, but boy do I wish I could have been a part of this! Listening to the adventures of the Wild and Untamed Things, brought happy tears to my eyes. I am a theatre gal from way back, so I know how being in a cast becomes a family. To be a part of something so special, is truly a joy.

As is the case with audiobooks read by the author, I feel like I am one of the gang, in a totally non stalker groupie sort of way! Listening to all the backstage mishaps and drama was a thrill. I feel like I have come to know Kevin, Russ, Donnie, Kenny, Boyd, Sunday, Tracey, Andrea, MarK, Iris, Tony, Felicia, Storme and Ron. So many others popped up, but these are the ones that stick in my head.

You get to see, Jack, wink wink, grow up and become a man through his time with the cast. He went from a fan to true part of the show. It was a treat hearing all the backstage insider secrets.

He is also wonderful at explaining, to the uninitiated, why Rocky Horror is such a cult favorite. Why this live experience can mean so much to fans. It is lightning in a bottle, you just hope for a glimpse if not a chance to touch it. It says it is okay to be who you are and welcomes all comers. Don't just dream it, be it!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kevin (Jack) Theis, who is fabulous. His pace is brisk, so if you can't keep up ya better slow it down a notch on the speed settings. You really do not want to miss a thing. This is one of the cases where I wholeheartedly endorse the author reading the material. Nobody else could have given the enthusiastic and energetic read. It felt like we were old friends chatting and catching up on old times. Heck, I feel like we are pals after spending 11 and a half hours with him. Count me in for the next reunion! LOL

This is a must listen/read for any Rocky fan. You will feel that love and energy all over again. This is at times hilarious and pinpoint. To think these kids were only 16ish and the lessons they taught each other. The understudies section was particularly wonderful. To be in that position and step down, even for one night a month, is huge!

While I adored the audio, I am afraid I missed out on things that would be in the print. I am going to scope out the ebook and see if there are photos, I need faces to go with these stories. I would recommend getting both, because this really was a delightful listen! (rockyconfessions(dot)com> get your extras fix at the website!)

"Classic coming of age tale set within RHPS"
Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a Transylvanian to be better than the print version?

Yes, but only because the narrator is not only the author but an actor. These are his stories, who better to tell it?

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the stories of friendship and family that developed in this rather odd assortment of characters. This is a classic coming of age tale, only this one is set among fishnets and drag makeup.

I found myself laughing out loud and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Theis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have. They are all wonderful but this has a special edge since it's his story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The title says it all.

    Any additional comments?

Anyone who every went to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, anyone who grew up in South Florida in the early 80's and any open minded theater junkie should read this. I loved it.

This is an unusual coming of age narrative on a par with Jean Shepherd's "CHRISTMAS STORY ." The fact that he is narrating his own story turns it into a one man show. I spent every available moment listening and being captivated by this tale

    "Better as the audio book!"
What did you love best about Confessions of a Transylvanian?

The narrator/author telling his own story is the best way to go!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confessions of a Transylvanian?

Oh my goodness!! The stuff his mother said to the people that called his house left me laughing for hours!!!

    Which scene was your favorite?

Honestly the whole thing left me entertained!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yea if I had the time to listen to it in one sitting I would of loved too. I did find myself listening every chance I got!

    "Confession of a Rocky Virgin"

I have to admit it: I've only seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show once. And...I didn't get it. I mean, I got it but I didn't GET it. It didn't get me, let's say. But this book is less about Rocky Horror than it is about being young, and THAT I get.

Confessions of a Transylvanian is about growing up, discovering your passion, and finding your tribe. The first is often difficult and the others don't always happen. But if you read this book - or even better, have it read to you by the guy who actually lived it- you might find out it's not too late.

I don't know if I can say this in a review, but given the book in question: this was a sh!t-ton of fun. Even for a virgin like me.

    Lips, lips, lips!

Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a Transylvanian to be better than the print version?

    Yes.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confessions of a Transylvanian?

I love the story of Holly coming to her first show. How he was called Jack.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Theis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first Kevin Theis book I have listened to and it was great.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love how his mom let him be part of the show.

    "LIPS! LIPS! LIPS!"

Have you ever wanted to write a book about your Rocky experiences? These authors did just that! Are you a Rocky Horror Picture Show fan? Ever been in a shadow cast? You MUST read this book! If adult words and drug references bother you, this is not the book for you. If you know how it feels to hear the roar of the Rocky crowd on the night of a full house, you'll love this book. As you listen to this co-author narrate this book, you'll be transported right along with him to the heyday of Rocky Horror in the early 80s.

This book took me back to the days (over 15 years ago) when I was performing in a shadow cast each week at our town's little run down theatre (our little show only drew a small fraction of the crowds described in this book). This expertly written and narrated story pushed all the right buttons for me. So many emotions! The butterflies the first time I ever jumped on a Rocky stage. The giddy excitement the night before a performance. The pure bliss as the audience reacts to your character with cheers and callback lines. As I listened to the book, it felt like I was hearing all the juicy stories first hand. These days, I only perform once a year or so at that same little run down theatre. Our city can't hold together a weekly Rocky show anymore, but I will never forget those days. This book summed up those glorious days perfectly.

Backstory: Before I read the book, I met Kevin and Ron personally when we shared a hotel room with some other folks at the Rocky Horror Picture Show 40th Anniversary convention in NYC a couple years back. They were obviously huge Rocky fans like me and the nicest guys you could ever meet. Of course, I purchased a signed copy of their book. Little did I know what a treasure I held in my hands. A year or so earlier, when I visited some Rocky pals in Chicago, I was privileged to see Kevin when he guest performed as Riff Raff. What a treat! I hadn't yet met him or read this book at that time, but I was impressed at his uncanny ability to jump into character. Once you catch the Rocky bug, you never really lose it. LIPS! LIPS! LIPS!
