Publisher's Summary

**Revised and Edited Edition Now Available**

Justin Roberts always dreamed of being a ring announcer at World Wrestling Entertainment. From playing with action figures of the Ultimate Warrior, the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, Bret Hitman Hart and Hulk Hogan to actually announcing these larger-than-life characters to the ring, Roberts lived out the dream of countless, passionate wrestling fans worldwide.

Best Seat in the House is the inspirational story of Roberts' ambitious journey to becoming a full-time ring announcer at WWE, performing all over the world and announcing weekly live events, TV shows, and the enormously popular pay-per-view spectaculars for more than a decade.

In addition to announcing the top wrestlers in sports entertainment from Nature Boy Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, King Kong Bundy, and the Iron Sheik to Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, and the Undertaker, Roberts also relives entertaining and candid moments with his real-life superhero coworkers, workplace politics, grueling travel schedules, harsh requirements of WWE talent, and the overall merciless treatment from the higher-ups whose decisions can affect nearly the entire wrestling industry.

This book is the all-access backstage pass for those who have always wondered what it would be like to work at WWE under the infamous Vince McMahon and travel all over the world in cars, buses, and planes with the biggest stars of professional wrestling.

Justin Roberts pulls no punches and gives you an uncensored, raw look at the journey of a young man chasing, catching, and living his dream.

    "Outstanding & Honest"

So many times we just hear the wrestlers versions of what happens on the road or backstage. This is a really interesting & honest story from one of the best ring announcers of his generation. Brilliant story and it was an absolute pleasure meeting Justin when he was in Belfast with WWE

"Great story, shame about the mistakes"

Excellent insight to the WWE as a whole, with some truly shocking stories of bullying. Only thing that let's it down is the narrative being a little too excited at times (talks very fast on too many occasions). Some sentences are repeated too.

Got the audio version of Justin’s book and loved hearing a different and real perspective of life in the WWE and on the road. Justin goes in depth from being a childhood fan to finally realising his dream and perhaps nightmare. Great read!

    "Mundane moaning"

Probably the worst wrestling book I've ever read, Justin moans moans moans constantly about what he would of done, moans more about nobody believing that the ring announcer should be booking the biggest wrestling company in the world, just when you think the moaning is over he moans that the wrestlers were mean to him, nothing ever seems to be his fault but rather every other person in the industry stopped him from changing the wrestling world! The only interesting stories in this moan tome is when he's talking about the guys who went out their way to give him autographs or phone calls to his father, justin comes across as a fanboy on a wrestling forum and seems to think his job entitled him to a more privileged position which is why he comes across as bitter and ungrateful for the position that he did hold. All this is justified by Justin telling us that he was just trying to make wrestling better for the fans or that he spoke for the fans or the fans deserve better, well the fans do deserve better, they deserve much better than this struggle of a book, at one point he talks about burning his mouth on pizza and that was probably a high point of his story, listening to this book was like being in jail, I just kept waiting for it all to be over. I realise this is one long ranting paragraph but that's all this book deserves. If you really want a wrestling book with some decent and frank story's the get bob hollys book instead. You have been warned!

"An eye opening account of life in WWE"

A very interesting account of what life is like in the WWE from someone with no incentive pander to the company. Justin doesn't come across as bitter, just honest about how working at his dream job both lived up to, and failed to live up to, his expectations. It's kind of bittersweet how his great experiences were sullied by his negative ones.

My only criticism of this book is the production quality. I get the impression Justin recorded this himself with no help as there are quite a few places where he does a second take of a phrase, takes lengthy pauses or background noises are heard. It could do with someone listening through it and cleaning up these sections.

"Highly recommended book! Give it a try!"
Would you listen to Best Seat in the House again? Why?

It is quite likely that sometime in the future I will listen to this book again especially as a wrestling fan.

It is a definitely honest telling of Justin's story in WWE containing the good, the bad and the in-between. He isn't out to get anyone - with the possible exception of JBL - and it shows. His genuine affection for guys like Tommy Dreamer, Navajo and William Regal shines through the text.

His criticism when it occurs is honest and is coming from a good place as a wrestling fan or as someone who cares for the performers and wants to see them and the company succeed and do their best. Justin himself says some of his comments may no longer apply but many seem all the more important in the modern 2017 landscape.

What other book might you compare Best Seat in the House to, and why?

The best book to compare this one to would be The Hardcore Truth or one of the Chris Jericho autobiographies. The Hardcore Truth is definitely more critical or sarcastic about certain things but it's a good comparison as they allow you to see the industry from different perspectives.

You get Justin's view of things as a ring announcer and fan on one side and Bob Holly and Chris Jericho's seperate books from the point of view of the actual wrestlers. It's interesting seeing where their views match and where they diverge.

What does Justin Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Hearing Justin read the book brought out the sincerity to me. His genuine joy when discussing the good moments made me smile as well as hearing the hunger of a young fan chasing his dream when discussing his childhood memories. I do wish the audiobook had been somewhat better edited but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I'm so glad Justin narrated this himself.

    Any additional comments?

I genuinely recommend that if you are a wrestling fan that you pick this up. Even if you are only somewhat interested or curious I would still endorse it as a interesting biography.

"Honest book detailing the life of a WWE performer"

Been waiting for the audio version of this book since I first heard about it on the Pro Wrestling Torch. Justin offers some great insider insight to the world of WWE. He pulls no punches for those he was mistreated by, and he is very open about those who helped him in his career.

The book is one of my favorite wrestling books, but there is an element of sour grapes that taints story to some degree. I believe what he says has happened but there seems to almost be the element of "I believe you, but want to hear what the other side has to say about this too", but we don't get that here obviously.

The only other minor gripe I had was the lack of editing before the audio book was published. The book is littered with instances where a line is repeated or corrected without editing out the flubbed line. If you can get past that and have a thirst for what WWE is like behind the scenes, you'll probably enjoy this book a great deal.

A good book about the rise of a wrestling fan who became the announcer of the biggest wrestling company in the world.

Performance kinda suffered due to errors in editing. Justin Roberts gives a good performance though. Even announced names a few times just like he did in the ring.

    "Fantastic !"

Absolutely loved hearing the inner workings of one of the world's biggest 'entertainment' companies from someone who wasn't a wrestler but sounded at times like he took bumps and was potatoed more than once. I was always a big fan of the ring announcers and Justin Roberts ranks up there with the greats from yesteryear. Congrats to you Justin on being able to live your dream!..and giving me a few airport tips along the way. Hope to see you in an arena somewhere down the road!

"A good enough book, sloppily produced"

The book its self is an interesting look into not only some of the inner workings and (mis-) management of the WWE, but the unusual personal journey of a serious wrestling nerd (a term I use without derision) who became obsessed with being, of all things, a ring announcer, and stopped at nothing to live that dream.

Unfortunately the audiobook can only be enjoyed if one has a high tolerance for sloppy, DIY production. The sound quality is ok but not great (with the exception of the forward, which sounds like it was record on an iPhone in a locker room), but there are so many places where the reader re-takes a line but the original isn't edited out that I lost count. The only evidence that there was any editing done at all is when he does some bits in "announcer voice" where he clearly overloaded the mic on the first take, because there's an obvious cut and the announcer lines are done by yelling from several steps away instead of properly using compression or somesuch to control the volume.

All that said, while the production foibles and the odd bit of clunky writing made me shake my head at a couple of points, I listened to the book basically in one go while on an all-day house cleaning binge and enjoyed it overall.

"This really is "The Best Seat in The House""

Justin did an amazing job at telling his story on his experience getting into the wrestling business and chasing his dream. We share a very similar experience with hearing about the death of our fathers so that made me tear up listening to your story about your Dad. I don't understand how people could say that the errors interfered in their enjoyment of the book, I think that's nonsense and misleading to any potential buyers, the level of enjoyment I experienced as I listened to this book, outweighed the few hiccups of just a few words being repeated, don't cheat yourself, listen to the book.

I also felt that the moments where Justin would announce someone in this book ad if he was standing in the middle of the ring at wrestlemania was only an added treat for those who bought this audio version.

as far as WWE, I was shocked to hear the truth about WWE/Connor The Destroyer and truly believe that they should have done what was right, but what do you expect from such a company???

Justin I want to say that I wish to see you back in WWE but they don't deserve you. As I told you on Twitter, I loved Howard Finkel, and felt that Wrestlemania wasn't Wrestlemania when he stopped announcing........ That was until we met you, you were great, you have a great voice for announcing and in my and many many fans opinion, you were the best ring announcer that WWE ever had.

in closing, Your impersonation of Howard Finkel is GOLD! I don't know how Vince could sit there with a straight face and not laugh, I laughed every time because that was him!

IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING THIS BOOK, DON'T MISS OUT ON GREAT STORIES, LAUGHS AND EVEN A POSSIBLE CRY.

Justin Roberts set a goal for himself and he knew it was going to be a steep hill to climb. He overcame all the odds, experienced ups and too many downs for one person. However, he overcame it all and made some lifelong friends, got to announce his childhood heroes and was able to see the world all at once.
