About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The gloriously romantic debut about fame, friendship, and falling in love, from the best-selling author of Some Kind of Wonderful, and Happy Mum, Happy Baby.

Sophie May has a secret.

One that she's successfully kept for years. It's meant that she's had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.

But then she meets the gorgeous Billy - an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy's glamorous - but ruthless - world.

Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?

Charming, heart-warming, and utterly romantic, Billy and Me, is an unforgettable story that will completely capture your heart.

Critic reviews

"A gorgeous, gloriously romantic read with buckets of charm - I absolutely loved it!" (Jill Mansell)
"A sweet and sparkling debut from a lovely lady. Sure to be a hit." (Carole Matthews)
"Only the most hard-hearted could fail to root for Sophie as she falls for A-lister Billy and must take on the mad, bad world of showbiz. This sweet debut reminded me of Last Night at Chateau Marmont" (Louise Candlish)

It's just ok really. Quite predictable and very forgettable. Well read and easy to listen to but the big secret was a let down.

fairly standard chick lit

This is a nice, light romantic tale that is gradually ruined by the main character becoming increasingly unreasonable, pathetic, self indulgent and irrational, while for some reason all of the other characters in the book seem to think she's wonderful, and humour and condone her childish behaviour. The fact that she didn't see fit to apologise to her long-suffering boyfriend in the final scene after behaving like a spoiled brat for months had me gritting my teeth in annoyance.

Cute story ruined by main character

moving away from teen books...pleasant and romantic but a little bit slow and predictable for me.
