Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. Being murdered. Not so great. Waking up in your least-favorite game afterwards...While trying to figure what the whole “sword” thing is all about and which end of it he’s supposed to point at the cuddly, woodland creatures who keep giving him owies, Lucas stumbles across a player who looks rather familiar. Is he the man who murdered him? If he is, why is he in the game, and how can Lucas make him pay for what he did? Worse yet, Lucas’s pretty sure he left the stove and the air on before the whole getting murdered thing. Worst day ever.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

"Kill. Kill them all." It's the first four words Lars usually wakes up to every morning, a voice telling him she's just giving him a "quest" that will help him "level". But even if he wanted to do it, he can't. They're cultivators: beings with ancestral bloodlines that have powers he could only dream of, while he is stuck as a puny human. Even if he could kill them, the people who bullied him, beat him, treated him like a punch-bag pariah for being a "tailless worthless human", he wouldn't. That is, until a vicious group of murderous psychopaths called a "sect" descend on his village.

Summary
Alex is a game developer, though he'd much rather stream RPG classics or spend time with Louie. That's his adorable corgi. He also hates people. Not in a homicidal way but rather in an extremely antisocial one.
Unless you hurt Louie. In such an instant, Alex is pulled into the Apocosmos, where our whole world is just a blip in a colorful tapestry of a million others. A multiverse ruled by a strict system. Where Norse, Greek, and Celtic pantheons clash. Where dwarves craft, dragons hoard, and vampires don't glitter. A world that is as cruel as epic.
Alex wants none of that though. He just wants to earn an early retirement somewhere in Spain. There's money to be made in the Apocosmos. Alex will take advantage of the market just like he did in his MMORPG days, in what seems like an error-proof plan.
But it's a zero-sum game, and some people would do anything to eliminate competition.

Well written characters and a good story
The characters are well written with flaws and wants of their own. I hope to learn more about Leo in the next book, he wasn't developed very much in this book beyond being an incredible friend.
The writer clearly has the capability but there's only so much space in one book. Hopefully he takes the time for him in the next one.

LitRPG but in the modern world and not in VR but IRL, the story follows our MC getting his ass kicked then suddenly awaking powers to see Stats and finding out that there is more to the world then there seems. He pet dog also gains the ability to speak and their adventure begins (sort of, more like an into into the universe of this story)

Good Start
This author and narrator are both new to me but I did enjoy the story overall, perhaps because Im a sucker for the dog and in some way a lof of this story is based on the relationships between mans best friend.
The idea of an overreaching universe isn't new but I liked how so much came about because of his dog and without any spoilers how things changed because of that.
It is a rather short audio compared to some and I only really felt like the action came about in the last 20% of the audio.
However the pick up of pace worked well as did the catch towards the end.
The writing was good just a little slow I feel but I enjoyed the narration especially at the end of the book and the dog message a nice touch.
Overall a 4 stars but I think the 2nd audio shall pick up well.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts for everyone.

Meh
Honestly, the supporting characters are the Only reason to read/listen to this. The MC is so overbearingly awful it ruins it, and the flash forwards do not help.
Not the worst I have heard, but I cannot recommend it. Narrator did great though, was easy to distinguish between the characters based on voice alone.

Alex is so antisocial it defies reason.
Ok. so Alex had something bad happenen in his life and now he hates people. Which is fine for a MC. BUT what's not fine is every chapter ignoring that he has the ablity to work solo and level up and solve all his problems. Instead I've listened to 3 hours of him doing everything he can to not level up purely because he may at some point. have to talk to a person. which is so stupid. if you want the character to be a dick have him work solo and level up to where he can just legit tell anybody to F off. him hiding in his home trying to do trade stocks is super crap to listen too. The voice actor is amazing and so is the sound studio. That's all great. but I can't listen to the story anymore. Dude is just to stupid for me to deal with. I find my self getting mad at the MC.

Not even a taking corgi could save this book
I can only assume the author was picked on alot as a kid giving how much the main character is an over the top stereotype of a brooding bad ass and how every character who is a jock is described as being an asshole.
it also does not help that a good chunk of the book is just magic stock market talk which is as exciting as it sounds.
The supporting cast is small which is good but giving how unlikable the main character is I refuse to believe anyone wants to be his friend but like I said I'm 90% sure the author is fulfilling some power fantasy, but it's his book so whatever.
The writing is shit, no other way to describe it when ever a character sheet is mentioned it's goes over the info twice which is annoying but the fact that character sheets get brought up all the time it becomes much much worse, and I hope you like like references because you are going to beaten over the head with video game titles and video game soundtrack titles ( although it is nice to see suikoden get a shout out)
skip this book.

Slow but interesting start
Overall the book was enjoyable but it’s really the second half that saved the book. As others have mentioned, the first half is really slow. There a lot of “magical ebay” stuff and it takes up about half of the book. It’s interesting but gets boring fast.
The combat and supporting characters are well written. The main character is obnoxious but you can tell there is already some good character development. The stats take too long to listen to so hopefully they shorten them later on.
There’s a part where he makes a deal to get something and it takes forever for him to hold up his part of the bargain. It almost felt like they were building it up for some reason and then it just gets settled and it’s done. I wish that useless buildup wasn’t there.
Overall the book is worth getting and I’ll definitely get the next.
