This story started well with the descriptions of Berlin and the characters she meets but soon ended as the ramblings of a privileged young woman lacking direction, disguised as mental illness.

An interesting premise.

There was something very profound about this book. I felt it must have been destiny that picked it for me. I almost fully identified with the character and it just sounded like listening to myself. I too lived in Berlin and experienced very similar situations. I recommend this book. Excellent debut novel!

I don’t think I was the right audience for this book but understand some people will love it. For me, it had lots of potential but never really got going. It felt as though there were lots of plot lines that didn’t develop enough and I’d have also preferred fewer characters/ relationships to allow more time/ word count spent on a smaller cast to really get to know them, understand their characters / motivations, and form a connection with them.
Not the story for me but a well-written narrative which kept me listening to the end - great because I really enjoyed the final scenes, including the deeper insight into the MC’s behaviour and the physical and emotional place where she leaves this story. A solid 3.5.
