I really enjoyed this and want to listen to more in the series. The characters were well drawn and the narration brought them to life.

I really enjoyed listening to this book - it was quite addictive, so much so I have purchased the next one.

I love fiction set in the Victorian era. Particularly when it is dark and sinister. I was a bit concerned this one maybe a bit lightweight and although it's not the most gritty I have read, it is not at all cosy, and deals with some horrific crimes and outcomes. I thought the slow building of the relationship between Jem and Will gives some hope to the story. Which we all need. I am very much looking forward to downloading the next book. Recommended.

Having come directly from the populist Fourth Wing ‘novel’, I was expecting to be entertained and refreshed by a higher level of subject matter and writing in Beloved Poison

Instead, I found the plot turgid and the character list surprisingly uninspiring - especially given the extra layer of the hidden gender theme.

I’m not going to waste any more of my life on books I don’t like so I’m not going to finish this and will be returning it. I didn’t even get to the murder.

The narrator is fine.
