About this listen

For as long as Signa Farrow has been alive, the people in her life have fallen like stars . . .

Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-being - and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy.

Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family's waning reputation and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother's restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger, and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.

Signa's best chance of uncovering the murderer, though, is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he's made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful - and more irresistible - than she ever dared imagine.

From New York Times bestselling author Adalyn Grace, Belladonna brings to life a highly romantic, gothic-infused world of wealth, desire, and betrayal.

Critic reviews

A deliciously deadly gothic romance. Full of poisonous deeds, spectacular secrets, and dark mysteries. Belladonna is a hauntingly atmospheric read, with an absolutely fantastic ending that will leave readers begging for more
Adalyn Grace spins a gothic tale immersing the reader in a world of secrets, curses, mystery, romance, and Death! She takes us on a journey with Signa that has you sighing from rich details, gasping from exciting twists and turns, and swooning from romance. This book is a true pleasure to read from beginning to end...and it all begins 'with the cry of a baby'
Decadently atmospheric. This gothic romance is filled with desire, betrayal, and of course, Death
Belladonna effortlessly weaves mystery, magic, and romance together into a gothic-infused masterpiece sure to become YA's new obsession. Every page drips with atmosphere and will leave readers wishing that they, too, could roam the halls of haunted Thorn Grove. Utterly original and completely addictive, Belladonna is a fantasy to die for
In Belladonna, Adalyn Grace has crafted a darkly romantic tale that will sweep readers away. This decadent world and forbidden love story are a perfect, addicting escape
A darkly gothic tale that is equal parts sensuous and sinister, Belladonna breathes new life into YA paranormal romance. Readers are sure to want more of Signa's tantalising dance with Death
Darkly twisted and deliciously gothic, Belladonna is the kind of wicked fairytale I've loved for most of my life. Grace's world is vivid and sexy. The romance and the relationships are pitch perfect, and I fully expect readers to fall headfirst into Signa's morally complex world, just as I did
Delicious and haunting, Belladonna is the type of story that sinks its teeth into your soul. With addictive, atmospheric prose and an absolutely spellbinding mix of mystery and romance, this is YA fantasy at its finest. It's dark, it's sexy. I cannot recommend it highly enough
A deliciously dark, magical tale. With heaps of murder, mystery and romance, what's not to love?!
Belladonna is a richly imagined web of intrigue, a rich gothic romance, dark and spectacular
This Gothic romance is perfect for curling up with as the darker evenings draw in
With its ghostly gothic setting and atmospheric autumnal aesthetics, Belladonna feels like a story that was made to be read during the season of falling leaves and warm spiced drinks. A captivating blend of heart-fluttering romance, spooky chills, Victorian sensibilities and a murder mystery that wouldn't be out of place in an Agatha Christie story, this is the perfect novel to get readers in the mood for the colder, darker months

I usually don't like stories set in times of 'polite society' nonsense, but this was a wonderful ride. Kristin is a brilliant narrator, and oh her Death voice.... you'll know what I mean when you hear it... The twists were great, the characters flawed and realistic and the spice is just right. I love the mish mash of genres in one story and I am so glad there's already a sequel coming!

I loved it!

This was one of the best fantasy books I have EVER listened too.
The story was beautiful, the characters so well written. It has mystery, angst, badass females, twists and turns, death as a character and a wonderful love story.

Theres a scene where they talk about death (as an act not the character) and dying and it was so beautifully written that it made my heart ache. I’ve always feared dying but the way it was described just made it sound so peaceful and lovely.

I have to give a million stars to the narrator. The narration was phenomenal - each character was brilliantly done and OMG the voice of death truly had my heart skipping a beat. Amazing!

I can not recommend this book more!!!

Every now and then I come across a story that captures my attention so fiercely that all other books become irrelevant. Belladonna was one of those stories. The narrator was perfecting, the pacing was great, The mystery element kept me guessing, which I loved and DEATH. Wow, I love Death. Signa is also a great protagonist. Likeable, intelligent, brave and flawed enough to give her an edge without making her irritating. I look forward to listening to Foxglove. Definitely going to check out more books from this author.

I devoured this book

I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed the book as much as I did if I didn’t listen to it as an audiobook.
The narrator does a great job of conveying emotions and character. Her narration of the male lead characters, Death and Sylas ;), had me blushing and giggling like a mad woman.
The story itself is wonderful, if you haven’t gathered that from my rant, the basing, world-building, characters and motives. An all-rounder with a Victorian? gothic vibes that I would definitely recommend if you’re trying to cleanse your palate from high fantasy books but don’t enjoy reading nonfiction books!

Captivating
