I pre ordered this and it was waiting for me on my Kindle this morning. I finished it half an hour ago.. I've had it on all day. Well presented. The narrators do a marvellous job and the novel itself is truly gripping. I wasn't sure what to expect and at first thought it was going to be a gritty thriller but the fantasy/horror elements trickled in so subtly I was completely convinced by them and gripped by the characters and the story to the final jaw dropping conclusion. Well worth the purchase price.

Totally engrossing literally couldn't put this down all day.

I have over 1000 audiobooks and rarely feel moved to write a review. If suspenseful psychological thrillers with a twist are your thing, don't miss this one. It's well written, well narrated and the story line is like no other.

Stunning!

If you're buying this expecting a standard crime thriller then you may be disappointed. It's hard to give a full review without revealing some of the plot, however there is a supernatural element to the book that I didn't expect from the summary. As a rule I dislike books with a supernatural theme so I was annoyed that this was not made clear. Also, I'd figured out the so-called twist at the end before I got halfway through so it didn't come as much of a surprise. All in all an average read, it certainly didn't live up to some of the rave reviews I've read. Having said all of that it was well narrated, probably slightly better than the book deserves.

Not what I was expecting

The first half was slow, not slow in a build up kind of way, but slow as in nothing much happened and it really could have been culled. The last half ramped up the excitement and the ending is one of the best I've read in this genre in quite some time.

I really enjoyed this book and did not see the end at all its a great twist. I had high hopes for this book and it did not disappoint. It is a very clever story of obsession and how far will one go to keep the object of their obsession? The only weakness is the depth of the characters there is no real explanation on how a farm boy can become a leading psychiatrist in such a short period of time and this did spoil it slightly as the timeline was certainly a bit off. However aside from that, the narrative is good and the twist in perception halfway through is clever and keeps the listener fully engaged. This was one of those books I could not pause wanting to get to the end, in a good way !
