Summary

Meet Woody. Former journalist. Die-hard Oasis fan. High energy. Low sperm count. Training to be a vicar. Obviously.

Matt Woodcock's frank, funny real-life diaries reveal what it was like for him to train as a vicar while struggling against all odds to become a father. In them he lays bare his joys and struggles as he attempts to reconcile his calling as a vicar with his life as a party-loving journalist, footie-freak, and incorrigible extrovert.

Becoming Reverend is a compelling and original account of how faith can work in the midst of a messy life, combining family, fertility, faith, and friendship with the story of a divine - but unlikely - calling.

Worth a listen, even to the cynics out there.

Humour, sincerity & honesty. A moving account of training to be a vicar/priest ( I was a bit confused which) with some very funny moments along the way. This guy bares all.
An ordinary bloke with a passion for Jesus but questions some of the bible.
His love of people & life sent a warm glow through me. And his odd bursts of temper & irritation with both of these made him a normal human being like you & I.

What a breath of fresh air! Churches are in need of a good shake up & be brought into the 21st century.

Almost makes me want to get up & go to church myself on a sunday, but then Matt wouldn't be taking the service, so I'll give it a miss. But I may get down on my knees & give prayer a go. You'll have to listen to the book to see why.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen. Left me wanting more, so I'll just have to listen to it again.

Insipirational

A fantastic book that only proves that christians are just your normal average person and that even as christians we doubt our faith from time to time.

Matt is a real inspiration.

Really loved this book - funny, informative, thought provoking and great to hear such a 'modern day' vicar speaking from the heart. Well worth a listen.
