Highly recommended story for 7-9 year olds

I am a primary school teacher and have been for nearly 20 years. This story is a firm favourite with children with a good balance between moments of peril and moments of humour. I have been looking to get this as an audiobook for quite a long time, so was delighted to find it (and the sequel 'The Witch's Revenge) on audible. It tells the tale of Phillip, a young boy carried off to a far away island by a magical kite to help the animal inhabitants fight against Oyin, the evil witch.
The characters are memorable and the story is a real 'page turner'. Nigel Lambert's narration is good and this retelling is well worth a listen. This little known story is a real classic and is a great introduction to the 'fantasy' genre for younger children.

Excellent book...firm favourite of my seven year old son at bedtime

My son thoroughly loves this exciting book. Nigel Lambert tells it so well; keeps him gripped whilst soothing enough to fall asleep too when required. Reminds me of my own childhood too.... Timeless

Brilliant audio book!

I got this for my daughter who's reading the books in school. She listens to this every night and loves it.

Classic

My five year old daughter loved this. We listened to it together the first time to make sure that she wasn't scared and now she is bugging me to put it on her personal mp3 player so that she can listen in the car. I remember having the same audio book on cassette tape when I was a child! Swing away forever, Baby B.
