Summary

Once upon a time there was a beautiful college student...

Erin cleans Mr. Morris's house twice a week to pay her tuition. The reclusive ex-soldier intimidates her, but she can't help but feel sympathy for him. Then she walks in on him touching himself, and she has much darker, much more sensual feelings.

And a beastly professor with scars he can't hide...

Blake Morris knows he's scarred both inside and out. He's reclusive and surly. Nowhere near good enough for the smart and beautiful young woman who cleans his house.

He receives an offer to return to his alma mater as an associate professor. This is his chance to reenter the world - and to be worthy of the woman he dreams about. He never expected to see her sitting in his classroom on the first day of the semester.

Author's Note: This book was previously published as a serial in multiple parts, including Beauty Touched the Beast, Beneath the Beauty, and Broken Beauty. They've been collected into this volume and revised for new listeners.

Beauty and The Professor is the first book in A Modern Fairy Tale duet.

My Thoughts on Beauty and the Professor

Finishing the story I was hit by a few things at once. Number one was that I remember now why I hate duets when both parts aren't out. Of course I don't really "hate" them, I just honestly think if I had to wait for book two after the ending to this story I might have gone crazy.

But that leads me to another thing that hit me. Skye Warren is a fantastic author. The words she crafted in this story absolutely drew me in, and had me hanging on every word. I was so completely wrapped up in these characters, and the more I learned about them the more I loved them. I feel like this book kind of gave me everything and of course I appreciated and loved the nod to the classic fairytale. But there was obviously romance and so much passion in the story. There were two amazing leading characters and a couple of pretty decent secondary characters. There was just this great storyline to have me completely hooked and not wanting to put the story down.

And then there was that darn ending. The kind of ending that has your jaw on the floor, you want to throw whatever device you're reading/listening on and at the same time your mind ia blown by just how much you actually loved the story.

I also can't say enough about the narrators for this story Lia Langola has been a favorite of mine for a while and I never hesitate to listen to a new story that she's narrating. Stephen Dexter is a newer narrator to me but I definitely intend to listen to more. He was like the perfect Beast/Professor in this story for me. I felt like his voice was exactly what I would have imagined the Beast to sound like in any retelling of Beauty and the Beast. And I'm just amazed at how perfectly suited he was. Now I am off to start book two because I absolutely need to know how this fantastic story ends.

Beauty and the Professor

This was just an ok read/listen. I liked the characters well enough and the story had good potential but the plot kind of fell apart. It seemed to be more sex than story.
The narrators did a good job with the characters and story.

Beauty and the Beast lite

This was really an unexpected book for me. I am used to Skye Warren's dark smexy books. Her alphas are usually tormented dark, possessive men who take charge of the relationship with the heroine. They are the initiators of the romance whether the heroine agrees to one or not. Beauty and the Professor is very much the opposite! It is a rather sweet story of a woman "Beauty" who falls for a scarred professor whose house she cleans. She encourages his attention and initiates their affair. He is horribly scarred and in hiding from the world. She encourages him to renter the world and their love affair begins.

The problem I have with this story is not it's lack of darkness but it's lack of heat and really substance. The narration is really good as is most Stephen Dexter narrated books. However, there isn't a lot of story here to work wit. Not much happens beyond their romance with the exception of a former ex entering the scene to disrupt their romance.

I did enjoy listening to the two lovers connect but I just wish there was more going on in the story to give it substance and a plot beyond their affair.

Beauty and the Beast adaptation

Skye Warren definitely knows how to ensnare a listener/reader. Her adaptation on Beauty and the Beast pulled me in from the very beginning. I love how she writes passion between characters. Both Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter brought the chemistry that Blake and Erin had in the book. They are magical bringing the book to life. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this review copy, I loved it!

Enjoyed it

Beauty and the Professor was a fairy tale re-telling of Beauty and the Beast with a seductive, modern day twist. Apart from being a love story, this is also a tale about acceptance both by other and oneself. The main characters Blake and Erin had great chemistry together and their steamy scenes were hott and intense. You will like them and be rooting for them throughout the story. I enjoyed this novel and would highly recommend it to all lovers of forbidden romances.

Looking forward to Book 2

Loved the narrators! ❤️. The story itself wasn’t spectacular. I found myself with an “ehh” attitude about listening. But I liked the ending!! And do want to see what happens in book 2. Hope this ending makes for an amazing listen.

Fun rendition of Beauty and the Beast-very steamy

First, Stephen Dexter is fantastic. Great voices, excellent pacing and wonderful emotion throughout the book. I really enjoyed his narration. i liked that he had a gravelly, deep voice for the professor, Blake, who is the "beast" in the story. Lia Langola was great too- she was able to differentiate between the different characters and was a pleasure to listen to.

The story itself was a very steamy and fun rendition of "beauty and the beast". It's a combination of the professor/student trope and the reimagined fairy tale. I liked the characters. Erin was naive and sweet, with a very good heart while Blake is an alpha man who has been beaten down a bit by circumstances. The steam started pretty much immediately and is highly prevalent in the book, so if that's not your jam, this is fair warning. But it's a fun, interesting story that kept my attention as these two characters had to overcome their pasts and then present obstacles to come together. This is book 1 of 2 so there is a cliffhanger at the end.

I received this book from #AudioBookObsession as an #AudioBookObsessionReviewer.

Both hot AND sweet!

In this fabulous re-imaging of the classic fairy story, Skye Warren has written a book which succeeds in combining red hot scenes with a tender love story. Blake and Erin are both vulnerable and both in need of 'saving'. Their vulnerabilities come from vastly different sources, but, nonetheless, they are a balm to each other. There is angst, hope, threats and love, and I was drawn into the narrative from the start to the end of this part of the duet.
The narration was good, with both Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola capturing essential aspects of both Blake and Erin. That being said, there were a couple of occasions when, during a hot scene, Stephen's tempo did remind me of a horse race commentator, getting over-revved as the climax was approaching 😊. Nevertheless, I recommend this audio as a very good listen, and I cannot wait to listen to the concluding part 💖💖

This book WILL melt your kindle

This book starts out hot and heavy. There is no foreplay, they just get right to business. It is not until a few chapters in that the characters are described Once that description begins, there is no way to out down this book. Blake is so hard to like at first, but once his back story unfolds, you cannot help but to fall in love with him. Erin is sweet and just trying to work her way through school. She does not want any hand outs or favors. I like her strong personality. This story really fills with drama when an ex-girlfriend returns. There is not many winks at the original story, but Beauty and the Professor has a life of its own. It is a great story with an ending that will leave you needing more.

Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola narrate this story. Mr. Dexter is an amazing Blake. He completely brings Blake to life exactly as I imagined him. Mr. Dexter is able to narrate Erin with the same enthusiam. Those hot scenes were even hotter with his narration! No matter what Lia Langola narrates, it is amazing. Ms Langola does not disappoint in this story. Lia narrates Erin exactly as I imagined her. Ms Langola brings out her determination and strength. Ms Langola's sultry voice is perfect for Blake I really enjoyed the duet narration. The narration enhanced the experience of the story.

Very hot and lots of drama

This audiobook is beautifully written and narrated, but it is not quite my style. I really enjoyed parts of the book, but the high number of sex scenes and the intensity of the New Adult type of drama were too much for my preference. I prefer between one and five bedroom scenes per book, but this one seemed like it had over a dozen, in a 5.5-hour audiobook! About halfway through, I just started skipping the sex scenes because I was getting bored with how Erin and Blake hit the bedroom every 24 hours or less. Also, there was too much relationship drama for me. I am not a New Adult fan, and I did not realize that this duet series fell squarely into that category. I prefer that if the emotions are constantly up and down like in this book, then it should be balanced with a bunch of humor. However, this is an emotional rollercoaster with basically no humor.

I loved many things about the storyline. First, I did love how Erin and Blake started their sexual relationship. It was a very hot first few chapters! Holey moly! Secondly, I like the elements which made the book into a modern Beauty and the Beast tale. Blake was scarred by an IED attack while on a tour of duty as a Marine. He is a highly intelligent man who had been previously headed toward a career in politics like his father, but instead became a recluse. Erin is a poor but beautiful and smart graduate student cleaning houses part time. Next, I really liked how the author correctly portrayed the structure, atmosphere, and classes of a graduate program. I was impressed with the suitably intellectual nature of a graduate class's discussion material. Finally, I liked Erin and Blake. They are basically good people, and the author is very good at showing the reader the pair's thoughts and feelings. In addition, their different but equally strong insecurities made these two an ironically good match.

The duet narration by Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola was excellent. The male and female narrators were enthusiastic, skilled, and committed to their work. They were both great at pacing, emoting, and sex scenes. My only tiny criticism is that Stephen Dexter did not get the heroine’s voice quite right.

I received a free audiobook copy via Audiobook Obsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Retelling of a fairytale done right

This is by far the best retelling of Beauty And The Beast I’ve heard in a very long time.

It’s dirty, it’s forbidden, it’s additive from minute one. I’m only upset that college wasn’t like this for me. The thing about Skye Warren is with her writing style she can take a story you know and still knock you on your butt. I’ll just be over here white knuckling my wait til the next book.

I would recommend this to fans of fairytales, erotic fiction, hot professors, people that already know Skye Warren is the Queen and people that still need to meet her writing.

Lazy, Lazy Lazy

The writing here was EXTRA Lazy! Its like I was dropped right in the middle of a relationship, just so the author could skip the budding relationship parts.

I could have liked these characters if there had been more that like 5 pages before they "couldn't take it anymore" and had sex...then proceeded to have sex every 10 minutes for the rest of the book.

Modern-day twist to a classic fairy tale

I enjoyed this modern-day twist to the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, and with the additional taboo of a student/professor romance, it really added an extra thrill! The attraction between Erin and Blake is evident from the beginning, so much so that the story dives right into the sexual, leaving the emotional connection and character history to play catch up as the story progresses. Both Erin and Blake have pasts that have damaged their trust and confidence, and the comfort they had found in one another becomes tested by their insecurities and those seeking to destroy their new found love. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this duet, and hoping that the second book has a little more balance between the storyline and the sex. The heat factor is definitely off the charts in this one! The narration duo of Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter was a great fit to these characters. From both points of view, each narrator brought out the gruff, beastly vibe of Blake and the sweet, passionate side of Erin.
