not beautiful or gentle or suitable for bedtime.

chose as bedtime stories for my 4 year old. first story is gentle, magical, delightful. the others are sad (a bullied kitten), ominous (a child-eating witch) and so forth. they end happily but i felt disappointed that they are not the sleepy, gentle, "beautiful bedtime stories" i expected. older children will enjoy the humour and the performances from the reader are full of energy and expression. but again, too much for bedtime!

A charming, involving listen

Would you listen to Beautiful Bedtime Stories again? Why?

My son who is nearly six, and gets bored quite quickly, listens to these stories night after night. The narrations are brilliant and there are many cute/appropriate sound effects. Great fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

We both enjoy the story of 'Tabatha the witch' and Toby and his amazing football gloves'. Tabatha's story is charming and teaches a lesson in kindness/understanding. Toby's is very encouraging to a young boy or girl who needs the confidence to know that they can do well in whatever field they choose.

What about Graham Seed’s performance did you like?

Love everything so far about Graham Seed's performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud in Siegfried the Sailor; there's a fairy in there with a spectacular name and the way he says it is funny. No tears, but absolute relief that all the stories have a good moral without being preachy about it.
