About this listen

Sally

To the outside world, this city girl has it all: her own business, an upscale condo, plenty of money in the bank. After losing her mother to cancer, she’s lonely and longing for a family. A deathbed confession and a violent attack cause her to run from the only life she knows.

Nolan

To the outside world, this country boy has it all: his own business, the pleasures of small-town living, plenty of money in the bank. After losing his wife to cancer, he’s lonely and longing to love again, but his feet are firmly planted in the town his ancestors founded.

Sally is city; Nolan is country. The only thing they have in common is losing someone they love to cancer, but is that enough to build a relationship? Can these two opposites overcome their differences and become one?

Welcome to small-town romance - with heat! Introducing the Finding Love in Green Springs series, set in the small Southern town of Green Springs, Mississippi, where the days are hot and the nights are hotter!

I loved this book! I loved Sally and how she was so unapologetically herself. I loved her fierceness.

Nolan was so accepting and amazing and such perfection.

This was such a sweet and easy read, brought out the endorphins making me smile almost the entire time I was reading this book. I was concerned at first with the opening to the book, it was sad and harsh and made me worry I was going to be crying the whole book, but it was the total opposite. I loved every second of it.

Lacy Laurel and John Pirhalla were so perfect, they had the emotions down pat!

This was a first for me with this author. But she definitely made a good first impression. I liked the nice quick pace that kept me interested. I felt like things flowed smoothly and kept the pages turning. Both main characters were likable. I might have been a bit more partial to Nolan and his patience and kindness but Sally was good too. And I could understand her hesitation and high walls in light of everything she'd been through, not just in the beginning of the story but also her whole life really only having one main person to count on. I do wish there had been more explanation given for the secrecy from Linda and honestly felt bad for everything Sandy missed out on. But the story itself was enjoyable.

Lacy Laurel was once again excellent. I just really enjoy her performance every time. Her co-narrator was new to me and if I'm honest, I'm torn about him. I liked the way the story was narrated, especially with the POV style, but while I definitely felt John Pirhalla was great for Sandy and Elijah and would have thought this was perfect had this been done in multi cast style, I didn't really love him as Nolan. I would have been happier with a little bit younger sounding voice. But that being said, he was a good narrator.

Overall this was a good story and I would happily listen to more of this author's work.

My Thoughts on Be One With Me

When Sally’s mother passed away a family secret is revealed which points her to Green Springs and she realized that she isn’t really alone. The small town life turns out to be a welcome chance and although she and Nolan didn’t get off to the best start it wasn’t long before the sparks started to fly.

Nolan is healing from a painful loss of his own and Sally is the first person to make him feel in a long time. After a few missteps by both of them due to their very different backgrounds they realize that love and family is all that really matters.

I listened to an audio copy of this story and thought that both narrators did a great job at bringing out the personalities of the characters they portrayed. 🎧The Flock

Sally and Nolan!

I really liked this book, which is the first book I've listened to by this author. Sally is a city girl who finds out that who her father is when she's 40. She meets Nolan who is instantly attracted to Sally. Admittedly, she's so abrasive in the beginning that i didn't find his immediate attraction to her believable (and I'm a city girl). But both characters, as well as the surrounding characters, really grew on me and i started to love their interactions. This is generally low angst, focusing on both romantic and filial relationships and the story is a beautiful reflection on how important family really is.

I really enjoyed the narration! Lacey Laurel was the perfect narrator for Sally while John Pirhalla is new to me but had excellent range and was well paced. Overall, the narration elevated the story.

Be One With Me is book two in the Finding Love in Green Springs series and can be read as a standalone. Sally goes in search of her father after her mother dies leaving her with no known family. After meeting her father she relocates to Mississippi to be closer to him and get to know him and other family members. There she also meets Nolan, the local mechanic, who is also a widower.

Nolan is smitten with Sally at first sight and from their first meeting, though Sally didn't have as great of a first impression. Sally also isn't looking for a relationship but agrees to friendship. The more time they spend together, the attraction and chemistry grows until they both give finally give in.

I thought the story line was interesting and had promise but fell a little flat for me in execution. I did like both of the main characters for the most part and liked the low drama aspect of the book. Lacy Laurel and John Pirhallaboth did a good job with the narration of the story. #TheFlock #PinkFlamingoProductions
