Summary
Barsoom Series Collection: 7 John Carter Stories is an audiobook collection of seven novels/stories of John Carter by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It will transport you to a fascinating new world unlike any other. Join John Carter as he finds himself on another planet beyond his deepest imagination - Mars, with almost a complete lack of resources.
Edgar Rice Burroughs' writings are inspired by a number of science-fiction writers and even some scientists who were dedicated to learning more about extraterrestrial life and ventures in space exploration. This infamous, well-written piece of literature by Burroughs has also been adapted by a number of writers in short stories, novels, films, and comics. Enjoy these must-hear novels in a beautifully narrated audiobook. It includes:
1. A Princess of Mars 2. The Gods of Mars 3. The Warlord of Mars 4. Thuvia, Maid of Mars 5. The Chessmen of Mars 6. The Master Mind of Mars 7. Yellow Men of Mars
Follow John Carter as he travels through the desolate landscape of Mars. Experience adventures full of feats of daring and dazzling swordplay!
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio.

Great read
I’ve enjoyed ERB stories and always wanted to read the John Carter series. I’m now in book 3 of this audiobook and no regrets. The author is a wordsmith and the books are well crafted. It fairly gallops through the adventures that our noble hero finds on Mars. If you like Jules Verne and H Rider Haggard then you will probably enjoy John Carter and Tarzan too.

Entertaining
I did enjoy listening to this although I did not warm to the narrator's voice.
The characters are stereotypes but if you listen with a smile on your face then it is fun.

Navigation of the book is terrible
The narrator seems like some old school fellow. Not good really, It hinders this collection.
Also the PDF you get doesn't help with navigating the book. Book 2 for example is like chapter 32. 32 isn't listed on the PDF.
This collection needs reworked with a better narrator.

Life On Mars
After watching a bit of the John Carter film, I was sceptical of this collection but thought I try it. It turns out to be pretty good but I don't really like the John Carter charactor at all but despite that, if you are a fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs, then you will like this collection.

Best narration for the later books
Best narration for the later books. After Scott Brick's renditions I found this to be not only the least annoying version, but actually quite good.
Recommended.

A fantastical story
Firstly, great narration! Secondly 7 books, what a bargain. A story written over 100 years ago but stands the test of time. Amazing world building and fast flowing story that never slows unless the narrative requires it to do so. John Carter is a humane, honourable and compelling protagonist with an extremely fleshed out cast of supporting characters. Reading it for the first time in 2021, a simply fantastic analogue for current issues religion and race. 5 stars
