A bit dated

I was looking forward to this, but was quietly let down. It was all new material I've not heard before (which is always a concern when you buy a compilation volume), but it all felt a bit dated.

Some of Jasper's material was predictable and dwelled on how old he was and the trouble with his kids.

I think quite a lot is lost when you can't actually watch him on stage. He's a marvel of facial expressions and it's genius how he works the audience. This is lost in the audio book.

I probably wouldn't be buying volume 2.

Missed you Jasper

I've always loved Jasper Carrot's stand up. I was fortunate enough to have seen him live around 1985/6. This recording is from just before 2000. As you'd expect, some references are of their time, but still funny and resonate well with me. Other topics are as apt today as they were then. Great to hear him again.
