Pack a bag! TC Matson returns to Cameron Falls with a small town, enemies to lovers standalone about a soldier who is determined to fix what he destroyed.

I don’t go looking for trouble. It finds me.

Cash

Eight years ago, I left Cameron Falls a screwup. Now I’m back a changed man and determined to right all my wrongs.

What I don’t expect is running into a challenging blue-eyed, smart-mouthed beauty. She hates me. I’m intrigued by her. Could be the scars. Could be the fire. Hell, could be that sexy scowl she always seems to carry. Either way, I’m going to infiltrate her heart and chase away the demons lurking in the dark.

Aubrey

My life in Cameron Falls has been a quiet one. I’ve stayed to myself and focused on taking over the bakery. That’s until the infuriating man who burned down my grandfather’s barn comes swaggering back into town.

One run-in and he sets his sights on me with the drive to fix what he destroyed. What I don’t expect is to fall victim to his charming ways and good looks.

He’s just supposed to fix the porch. Instead, he’s lighting up a dark path.

Sleeping with the enemy wasn’t part of the deal. Neither was falling for him.

Warning: This book contains one infuriatingly sexy man. Ovaries may explode.

All starts to feel right when together.
Strong characters, pain, emotions and a great romance.

Back to Cameron Falls I go, and am thrilled to take a trip there to meet Cash as he acclimates to civilian life. He left when he was young, after a time when he was blamed for a fire started that he didn't start, but still carried some guilt for years. Now home, he is hoping to make restitution only to find life has changed. Aubrey has moved into her grandfather's home after his death, and when she sees Cash, she lets him have if for burning down their barn. And what does that do? Her fiery personality has sparked a flame in his heart and he is going to win her over. It's not an easy task and after some time, things begin to change. Then Cash finds out a secret she has been hiding. Why would she do that, and what does it all mean? Give this small town romance a listen. A drop of suspense makes this even better and makes me love Cameron Falls all the more! I can't wait for more.

Michael Norman Johnson and Pagan McGrath are the narrators for this gem, and they bring out all the feels. As Cash, Johnson shines as the man with a huge heart. McGrath is new to me and I enjoyed her voice as Aubrey. She carries her new love and secret from the past with all the emotions to make her realistic. I enjoyed these two and this addition to the series.

This is another fabulous novel from TC Matson, with another delightful Helms brother and a visit to Cameron Falls. An enthralling small-town enemies-to-lovers romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings throughout. Cash left home after getting caught up with the wrong crowd and in trouble, enlisting to serve his country. He served for eight years and became a better man, and wants to make things right for all his wrongs before he left. Unfortunately, the one person he needs to make amends with most passed away, so he will extend that courtesy to his granddaughter, Aubrey, who inherited his home. Except the two do not hit it off right from the start, and despite him throwing on the charm after a hilarious, awkward run-in or two, she still wants nothing to do with him. Cash is determined and does not give up on her, finally winning her over, or so he thought. Aubrey has a past she does not want to remember but could never forget, and it left her scarred and scared. Cash could tell she was hiding something, but didn’t push her, hoping she would open up when ready. But that doesn’t happen because her past comes back to haunt her in the worst of ways. It was great watching these two first go back-and-forth, then get to know each other, and seeing their relationship morph into something so much more. Cash is such a personable guy, a sweetheart, and OMG, how he was with his adorable niece, who is a real scene stealer and perfect for lightening things up. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, charming and heartwarming moments, witty banter and dialogue, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. TC Matson, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  Michael Norman Johnson and Pagan McGrath are the perfect cast to bring the characters to life. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Johnson nailed it as Cash, grasping every facet of his personality, from his charming side to his protective side. McGrath did the same as Aubrey and was just as fabulous in showcasing her personality. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side/secondary characters, both young and old. Their expressive delivery conveys all the characters’ emotions, making you feel each one. Listening to these two engaging storytellers is a delight, and their captivating performance keeps you completely absorbed.
