Something horrible happened to Cali, but she was healing—emancipated from her mother and employed by a company dedicated to saving the bee population. Cali was healing until her trauma reappeared. He had stalked her, waited until she was on a secluded farm tending to bees before confronting her.
The thing about bees is that they love their keepers, and the bees Cali was tending to did not like the commotion happening outside the hive. They attacked; the man was stung, and Cali ran. Ran just like she did before. Cali did look back, once. She might have watched the bees retreat into the hive; she might have noticed the queen hovering looking for her…she might have noticed…
As Cali is settling into a new life and a new town, accusations surface. Will she be arrested? Is she a murderer?
The Calligraphy of Bees is about healing after trauma and the journey back to oneself. It is a thank-you note to the regenerative magick of nature. The hives of friendship and support are underscored by the comforting buzz of bees. They know. They know.
