Fantasy novella inspired by games and their players.

In a world fractured by magic and time, I, the humble storyteller, find myself piecing together a tale I can scarcely believe.

It begins with a halfling bard named Digram, whose discovery of a forgotten melody sets him and his companions on a dangerous quest.

The dwarf Beryl, the human noble Minelira, and the elven warrior Lord Vaelior all carry their secrets, scars, and simmering tensions into this perilous journey. Together, they brave forests alive with menace, tunnels steeped in shadow, and caves where trolls plot their next meal.

The magic rings promise a wish fulfilled, but as I uncover their history, I see how much more dangerous it is to seek what lies within one’s deepest heart.

Perhaps I am no more than a scribe to their adventure—but if you’re reading this, you too are caught in its spell.

The story feels like sitting by a campfire listening to an old legend, which I really enjoyed. The narration is great and adds a lot of warmth to the story. I just wish the pacing was a little quicker in some parts, but overall it’s a nice and a cozy listen that leaves you with that classic adventure vibe.

I listened to the audiobook version of this novella and loved every minute of it. The story has that classic quest energy mixed with LitRPG charm, and the characters feel lively and distinct. Digram, the halfling bard, steals the show with his humor and heart, and the narrator’s performance brings him to life even more. The singing in the audiobook is a wonderful touch that adds real atmosphere and makes the world feel magical.

The party dynamic is fun, with tension, secrets, and different personalities blending together in a way that keeps the journey interesting. The settings are vivid, from shadowed tunnels to troll-filled caves, and the stakes feel meaningful without ever overwhelming the story.
