Paris's path is clear, his future settled.

He's trained his whole life in politics and the running of a kingdom. He's going to be an adviser to the future king, his beloved prince. But when his father dies unexpectedly, the current king takes the opportunity to get rid of him, sending him to the barbaric southern tribe lands of Nemeda as a diplomat.

No one has ever returned from the tribes alive.

But he won't give up on true love. If it costs him everything, he'll bargain his way back to the arms of Prince Tybalt. Only what he finds when he arrives in Nemeda is not what he expected. The tribes aren't barbaric at all, and their chief is... well, Paris can't be distracted by the man's rugged beauty that easily. Can he?

I went into Sanctuary knowing very little about it, and I was so pleasantly surprised. From the start, the world-building pulled me in—it’s rich, layered, and full of fascinating cultures that feel both lived-in and compelling. There’s adventure, there’s romance, and there’s a cast of characters I effortlessly adored.

Paris and Brett were such a highlight for me. Their dynamic was refreshing, especially because there’s no frustrating miscommunication or unnecessary relationship angst. Brett, in particular, is the greenest of flags, and I loved how their bond grew naturally. While I do wish we got to see even more of their daily lives together, what we did get was fantastic.

The story also had a few unexpected twists that kept things engaging, making it much more than just a standard fantasy romance. Even the prince—who, let’s be honest, leaves a lot to be desired—had a storyline that kept me intrigued.

All in all, this was such a compelling read, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where the story goes next!

An unexpected find in the Audible plus catalogue, this book was a delight. There is plenty to keep you listening from start to finish then straight on to the next instalment.

Unexpected!

I really enjoyed this story. I wasn't expecting much as I knew nothing before starting. I really liked both MCs, and the side characters were great. Leading to set ups for the next books. I have AuDHD and it kept me thoroughly entertained.

To be helpful this is written from the POV of both characters equally. I can't handle audio books that are written from the writers and then characters POV. it hurts my head.

I would highly recommend this book. Great value for being a freebie.

This was an interesting world with good world building prep for the rest of the series. I liked these characters narration. Overall, this story was too PG for me, but still enjoyable.
