Never make a major life decision in the wake of emotional turmoil. Cassie Romano learned this the hard way, leaving sunny San Diego for a teaching position at a private school in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York after a painful break-up left her heartbroken and in need of a change. It all seemed so perfect in June when she came to interview. But now it’s December, and she’s stranded on top of a mountain surrounded by snow, ice, and acres of wilderness, lonelier than ever and bored out of her mind. When a fellow teacher turns up dead and Cassie receives a cryptic letter from her a few days later, it’s clear to Cassie that something strange is going on at Falcon Ridge Academy. Everyone seems to be writing the death off as a tragic accident, but she’s not so sure. Cassie has secrets of her own, though, so she’s initially reluctant to get involved. Torn between the urge to protect herself and the desire to investigate further, she decides on the latter.

And the consequences could be deadly.

Got twisty towards the end and I was invested. It was a freebie but I enjoyed it

Nothing to dislike story got better as you kept listening and plot quite easy followed

Quite a good story but a little slow

The story wasn't bad, though I expected something a little more out there based on the book title. However, I got distracted from the story by the narrator - who wasn't overall bad, but I soon noticed that she has a strange pronunciation of words beginning with W (e.g. she reads 'who' as 'hwho'), which was quite annoying.

Not blown away

this was OK for a freebe, but I found the characters confusing, maybe they weren't painted well enough in my imagination.
I nearly missed to the epilogue and realised it was because I wasn't really bothered

an OK listen

I really enjoyed this book from the start, even though it was slightly predictable it was a solid enjoyable psychological thriller. Great for a short plane journey.
