An innocent man is accused of murder. His enemies want blood. Criminal defense attorney Tex Hunter is the only hope he has left.

Robert Sulzberger appeared to have a perfect life—a respected position in the City Council, a lovely family, a house with all the trimmings—but behind the façade, his life was crumbling. Drawn into a world of crime and corruption, Sulzberger couldn't find a way out. He couldn't escape. And when he tried to walk away, he found himself behind bars. The trial captures the media's attention, and the dark forces of politics are thrown into the limelight. As the son of a convicted serial killer, Tex Hunter knows just how dangerous those forces can be.

Hunter battles against deception, fraud, and cover-ups, risking everything in the most difficult case of his career. Can justice triumph against corruption? Or will the dark side of politics bury the truth forever?

Power and Justice is the first book in this high-stakes legal thriller series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone novel or part of the heart-pounding Tex Hunter Legal Thriller series.

He is such a complex, broken and driven character, he has many quirks and flaws but he always fights to ensure the law works as it should. He doesn't know if his clients are innocent or guilty, and he doesn't want to know, but he is a master at finding missed clues, unsecured loopholes and...the truth. This first book pulled me into Tex's world and kept me hooked as he tears the opposition and the witnesses into tiny pieces as he secured his case.
A fantastic listen on Audible.

I do love a court room drama and was hopeful for this book but i wont be listening to any more in the series. The build up to the court case was lengthy and not very sophisticated. The plot on the whole was interesting but a bit amateur in the telling of it and much of it just seemed to fall into place without any of the characters having done anything particularly clever. The part about stealing was nonsense and the characters were not ones you got to like or admire. I've listened to 'The Southern Lawyer' by the same author and did enjoy it so i was optimistic for this book but it just didnt deliver. The narration was very good and would listen to another book by this narrator but this series is not for me.

Good in parts

The plot is engaging but the characters are all very one note - everyone’s back story is tragic so there’s very little light and shade. Also there are parts where it feels like the author is rambling. A bit disappointing.

Not as good as the author’s other series

Awful storyline awful characters, so cliched. Got about half way through and gave up on it. The only redeemable factor was the narrator
