After listening to chapter one it was clear that there was going to be a lot of information I already knew. But there is a difference between knowing and understanding and as I went through the book this was rammed home again and again. Several things clicked in my head and deepened my understanding, shifting my approach for the better.
Graeme's delivery is soothing and considered, it is a lulling delivery. I won't listen to it while laying down at night because I will fall asleep. But during this day this delivery helps you digest the information more effectively and is almost hypnotic, drawing you through the book.
Now for the bad bit, they are few and very minor:
-repeated reference to own app. Now this, written down isn't annoying at all, I've read many books that have similar instances and when written your brain just skips it if you've got an alternative or you're not interested right now. However when spoken it can feel a bit like an infomercial. It's not and had I not got an alternative I would prior to purchasing the audio book have bought authors app. But some people may find this aspect a little niggly. There are other apps but I wouldn't bring them up either.
-there are certain areas that I would have liked a little more detail on but on reflection those areas a particularly specialist and this is a more generalist work. Any more information on weight loss and menstruation would have seriously turned off male readers. Although perhaps more information and strategy in the comfort eating are would have been nice, the over all messages in this area is invaluable however and a good foundation which I will be enacting.
Mindful, effective and informative
