There are times when sitting on the couch in front of the TV seems infinitely preferable to rolling the motorbike out of the garage for a ride or putting the boots on to go for a hike, yet it’s rare that one regrets the effort. In this collection of motorcycling road trips, garage misadventures, bike reviews, and reminiscences, I try to convey my joy of riding, even when things don’t always work out perfectly.

Although long-distance travel has been severely curtailed by the COVID epidemic, I still managed to squeeze in a few short trips, encountering some interesting roads (some might argue "unsuitable" for the bikes I was riding) and intriguing situations along the way. As baby boomers like myself get older and the median age of motorcyclists climbs ever higher, it’s easy to find the couch more appealing than the bike seat. But don’t let those aching joints and wasted muscles hold you back. Life is short. The time is now. Do it while you still can.

Nick has a wonderful way of making really long rides sound easy. The occasional challenge with the bikes and or the wildlife are very difficult to comprehend when you've little experience of such things but Nick is very good at making the stories interesting.

lots of short adventures

The authors relaxed way of presenting stories from his journeys is like a balm for my mind. His personal experiences with old motorbikes sounds very much like my own, honest with no filter but always decent. I share some views with him regarding people who needs to be part of a group to ride motorcycles, and had to laugh when I heard that comment. I actually said the same to one of my friends a couple if weeks ago. Its great to hear other people enjoying the same way of travel as myself. I recommend this to anyone interested in motorcycling, for the pleassure of riding.

The complete guide to the motorcyclist.

I downloaded this immediately after listening to Nick's "Adventures on Borrowed Time", and loved it. I've become a "map geek" plotting the roads and towns mentioned. For a UK rider the distances are crazy, 350 miles round trip to meet a friend for lunch.
Fantastic!!

Another great listen

Wanted to like this but unfortunately found this a bit dull. Maybe it's just me but the book feels unfocused and just a series of instances of his bike having issues. I don't like to be negative but to me I found this tiresome. I think I came across this from an Adventure Rider Radio interview which was good.

Uneventful ramble
