A sickness runs rampant through the world. In Portland, Oregon it is no different. As the night takes hold, eight men and women bear witness to the horror of a zombie outbreak. This Rotten World is the zombie novel that horror fans have been waiting for. Where other zombie works skip over the best part of a zombie outbreak, This Rotten World revels in it the downfall of humanity, dragging you through the beginnings of society's death, kicking and screaming.

I love a good zombie book or film and this hits the spot. Yes it’s got all the usual tropes eg bites and noggings being bashed in but it also has believable characters and a we get a lot of backstories which I like. Plus it’s well read.

Loved it!

Let me start by saying I HATE zombies that aren’t zombies - ie fast (why would death/decay ever IMPROVE physical condition?¿) or smart (because again, they’re dead).

Stickler that I am for undead literature, I absolutely love this book’s take on the pure, unhurried terror of classic zombies and the resulting social collapse that follows in their wake. Told from the perspectives of several characters, we know as much as they do as it all unfolds, and just like one would expect, no easy answers/explanations are given for just how this is possible or can be resolved.

Didn’t have my hopes up at first, but was pleasantly surprised by the well-paced plot, solid narration and evocative prose. Would definitely recommend to fellow zombie lovers!

A rare gem of zombie fiction

I love zombie films, books and games, this ticked many boxes, nothing new but solid.

I liked the characters good and bad. I liked the grisly details. How all the stories come together in the end. Great read

I liked showing the apocalypse from the beginning.
