When S.W.A.T Sergeant Marcas MacArthur laid eyes on the bronze skin beauty who moved in next door, he swore that he wouldn’t touch her. Leading one of the most elite S.W.A.T teams in the state of South Carolina left no room for relationships. Marcas knew that Sarena Rucker was a woman who deserved a man’s last name. She was a temptation that he fought to resist, and he vowed to stay far away from her. Now, if only he could follow his own rules.
The emergency room nurse had eyes on her sexy-as-sin neighbor. Sarena had a thing for men in uniforms, and Marcas MacArthur decked out in his S.W.A.T tactical gear made her knees weak. He was the perfect package - sexy, alpha, rugged, and intense.
She'd lusted after him from afar, and she was unaware that he even knew of her existence. But she was ready to make her presence known. Only, he made the first move by sauntering over to her and let his plans for her be known. The sexy cop didn't realize that he wasn't the only one that could issue orders. Sarena had a few of her own, and Marcas was determined to meet every one of them.
The chemistry between Marcas and Sarena was electrifying, casting a light on the passion that burned between them. There are those lurking back in the shadows, who want nothing more than to extinguish the blaze and exact revenge on the S.W.A.T officer by taking the one person who made his heart beat again.
Marcas is willing to go to extreme measures to protect Sarena. Will he be able to rescue her? Or will Marcas lose the one person who gave him hope for a future?

Mac is an elite SWAT commander and his alpha male sexiness is always in the for front but Mac is always wary regarding his love life as he is always a target and would not want to put anyone else in that world.
Serena has seen her hot neighbour and fantasise about having just on night with him but when an encounter where she worked rouses more that anger within Serena she then tries to get closer to this sexy man.
This story explodes from the first words spoken, the story is brilliant and although I did feel at times that the character of Serena was out of character with some of the interactions with Mac I still enjoyed the overall chemistry between these two characters.
I did enjoy the narrators who I felt gave these characters a great voice and personality, I will definitely be listening to more stories in this series.
A brilliant book

My only issue is that the story didn’t continue quite as strong as it started. It felt like it was all a little rushed – the events all happening within the space of a couple of weeks – which meant some of the detail had been skipped. I think it would have been better served to draw the story out a bit more, flesh it out and have it last a bit longer. That being said I did enjoy the story and I wanted to know what was going to happen.
Peyton Banks is still a pretty new author to me but I have enjoyed everything I had read so far. I am looking forward to my next audio book by her.
