Mildly amusing fluff
I did laugh a few times, and there was a bit of a "message". Her narration brought it to life, I do like it when the writer of an autobiography can read their own book, and read it well. However, this is mostly a bit light and airy and inconsequential, and to be honest, rather samey.

Stuck it out
I stuck with this though the story was pretty implausible. This psycho following her about is stretching it. Narration wasn’t the best either

Good series
I listened to this after enjoying the first book in the series (out of order I know!) which I got on a daily deal.
I actually enjoyed this too and have now gone on to buy the other 2 books and have started listening to the 2nd book already and must say am also enjoying this.
More of an easy listen without the gore which makes a nice change. Hopefully I can fill in some of the missing gaps from Freida's background from the first case as that seems to run through the series - & Joseph is great!
All in all an enjoyable listen and a good series.

Cold lead
Would you listen to Thursday's Children again? Why?
Unlikely but there are very few I listen to twice.
What other book might you compare Thursday's Children to, and why?
very much of its genre. No specific book but there are plenty like it. That's not to say it's too "samey".
Did Beth Chalmers do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
I'm a little stumped how to answer this. She is a very good reader, lovely voice. But there are one or two characters that are annoying to listen to. Chloe is just irritating but she is a minor character and I find Carlson pedantic and boring. Love her Ukranian friend.
It's the lead one I struggle with. I don't necessarily think she is characterised badly, but there is something about Freida that is cold, humourless and unlikeable. She is irritable, snappy and considering her occupation, goes stamping over people's feelings to progress her investigations. I've listened to the whole series and, if anything, I like her less each book. However, there is a 'back story' here and perhaps I'll be more forgiving as the series progresses. She does have her good bits and can be selfless, it's just I find her soulless and it may be the reading that does this as she evidently has very loyal friends.

Despite my feelings about Freida, I will stick with this series as I like the stories and the characters floating around on the periphery. Don't expect anything new or original, but is there really such a thing nowadays?

Good mystery
Would you listen to Thursday's Children again? Why?
Yes, I Didn't realise this was book 4 when I downloaded it. I enjoyed it and would consider getting the others in the series and read this again in sequence. It does work as a standalone book but I expect it would be better if read in sequence.
