A new type of serial killer is stalking the streets of New York - one more devious and disturbing than ever before.

They call this butcher The Skin Collector: a tattooist with a chamber of torture hidden deep underground. But instead of using ink to create each masterpiece, the artist uses a lethal poison which will render targets dead before they can even entertain the prospect of escape...

Drafted in to investigate, NYPD detective Lincoln Rhyme and his associate Amelia Sachs have little to go on but a series of cryptic messages left etched into the skin of the deceased. As the pair struggle to discover the meaning behind the designs, they are led down a treacherous and twisting path where nothing is as it seems. And with the clock rapidly ticking before the killer strikes again, they must untangle the twisted web of clues before more victims - or they themselves - are next.

Outstanding . . . Deaver proves himself a grandmaster of the genre as each surprise leads to an even bigger surprise, like a series of reverse Russian nesting dolls
Another suspenseful and twist-filled entry in this always-exciting series.
Quality thriller... This is Deaver back on form
"Deavotees" will expect and gratefully receive the many twists and sudden turns . . . No one is better at narrative misdirection. Just at the point you think "That's impossible!" Deaver demonstrates the exact opposite . . . Once again the depth of his research and characterisation has created a superb example of modern American Gothic.

Vintage Jeffrey Deaver with twists and turns when you least expect them!! I love the character of Rhyme and Deaver really does have the ability to bring him right in front of your eyes.

Amazing storyline with more twists than I was expecting and more than anything I've read in a while.... Hope there are more books from this author to listen to! Loved it. But wish a woman read the woman's parts as the ladies voices were pretty hilarious and wish there was an English accent option. Haha

Another fantastic tale from Deaver! The Lincoln Rhyme series is just brilliant. Jeff Harding is perfect.

The only narrator to read Lincoln Rhyme is Jeff!

A really gripping story with the usual interesting characters, and twists and turns throughout to keep you on the left foot. Occasional incidences of impossible cleverness, or an odd convenience, sometimes induced a smile, but are an acceptable part of a cunning plot. Jeff Harding is brilliant, and I will be listening to everything else he has narrated. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent, totally absorbing story
