A wealthy family A fatal cup of tea

Rex Fortescue was enjoying his morning cup of tea when he met his untimely end.

Suspicions naturally turn to his wife. He was filthy rich, after all.

Then she too is found dead.

Strange clues have Scotland Yard’s finest minds scratching their heads. Poisoned marmalade. Dead blackbirds. A victim found with a pocketful of rye.

It’s up to Jane Marple to put the pieces of this strange puzzle together…

The marvellous storytelling of Agatha Christie was marred by the awful narration of characters merging into each other

Terrible narration

A wonderful timeless classic written by the ‘Queen of Crime’. A beautifully written story with great characters full of twists and turns. Richard E Grant’s narration is superb and enhances the enjoyment. More Christie please audible!!

Excellent.

I didn’t think the narrator would pull off Miss Marple but he did, in fact he gave all the characters their own voices. I found this story to be complicated and with lots of red herrings but it’s so enjoyable.

Another wonderful novel by the queen of crime.

I have read all of Agatha Christie’s stories, me and half the people my age. But this has always been my favourite. As it’s a novel, Miss Marple doesn’t dominate it the way she does the short stories, but she is still there to gather the threads together at the end. And as I said in the title, the last sentence still brings a thrill.

The final sentence still thrills after all these years
