Özet
Written by Martin Luther King, Jr. himself, this astounding autobiography brings to life a remarkable man changed the world —and still inspires the desires, hopes, and dreams of us all.

Martin Luther King: the child and student who rebelled against segregation. The dedicated minister who questioned the depths of his faith and the limits of his wisdom. The loving husband and father who sought to balance his family’s needs with those of a growing, nationwide movement. And to most of us today, the world-famous leader who was fired by a vision of equality for people everywhere.

Relevant and insightful, The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr. offers King’s seldom disclosed views on some of the world’s greatest and most controversial figures: John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Lyndon B. Johnson, Mahatma Gandhi, and Richard Nixon. It paints a moving portrait of a people, a time, and a nation in the face of powerful change. And it shows how Americans from all walks of life can make a difference if they have the courage to hope for a better future. Amazing and inspirational, couldn't put it down. Fascinating account of the great man who lead the civil rights movement and wanted justice and equality for all through non-violent protest.

Why is this not in Audibles anti racism book list? Moving and enlightening. I had heard of MLK and knew the basics about what he accomplished. But this book made me feel close to a man who could surely be recognised as one of the most influential of all time. The most motivating and positive person I've ever read about, he was wise in ways I can only aspire to. Gave me a new insight into the teachings of Jesus, from an agnostic perspective I now see the power in the teachings of Jesus. Mahatma Gandhi is next on the reading list thanks to DR King. The gift this book will give you will last an eternity I promise you. Lastly I think this book holds many many answers to the issues of today and could be the key to peace and unity for many nations currently divided and angry. God bless Martin Luther King and God bless anyone who's looking for hope in the darkness.

Today it seems inevitable that the end of racial segregation and universal civil rights would come to be, but listening to this book and the speeches within you realise that nothing was inevitable and without the intelligence, compassion and courage to take action of what started as a few people, the world today would be a much poorer place. Often books are describe as 'inspiring' , but actually they rarely inspire any real action. This really has inspired me to take action - life changing for me. Thank you Mr King and everyone else who refused to give up their ability to love in the face of hate.

For me, this was a great introduction, to black history in the US. Aside from seeing the film "Selma", and having a general idea of who MLK was and what he did, I was pretty ignorant of the period and atrocities that the Black community of the US were subject to. This autobiography has given me a greater insight and also curiosity to learn more. Some of the original early recordings were difficult to hear, but I got the majority of it. I liked the narrator, he didn't try to be MLK, had a smooth voice, so nice to listen to. I would recommend this book.
