About this listen

"A ghostly little book", said Charles Dickens of his famous Christmas novella, which first appeared in 1843. It has become the most famous classic Christmas story of all, with the miserly figure of Scrooge, the epitome of the callous employer; sadly crippled Tiny Tim; and the three spectres: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future.

This audiobook continues the award-winning series of Dickens' works read by leading English classical actor Anton Lesser.

Really enjoyed this reading overall. Narrator was great except for one thing - he gives Scrooge a Yorkshire (?) accent which you do get used to but for me lost the overall audio book a star. Not that I’ve got anything against Yorkshire accents - just, for me, Scrooge is out and out a Londoner! Also some music at very random places that didn’t really add anything. MUCH to enjoy though

Great overall

I love Anton Lesser's readings of Dickens and have every single novel that Mr Lesser has narrated. This is tiptop, as they all are.

Smashing

Anton Lesser really brings the story to life in this excellent tale. I would recommend this audio book and give a big thumbs up

Best Audio Version

By chance I bought this version, with narration by the same person as I had listened to for A Tale of Two Cities — excellent

Excellent performance

Enjoyed it enormously. Anton Lesser was wonderful, though it took me a while to stop visualising Jonny Vegas as Scrooge, as the voice he used for old Ebenezer sounded just like him.

Wonderfully Read
